New Hampshire Fish and Game Department officials remind ice anglers that state law requires all bobhouses or ice shanties to be removed from the ice by the end of the day on April 1. Leaving bobhouses on public or private property without permission is also a violation of state law, so if you've moved your shanty to the shoreline, take care to move the structures to your own property before the deadline.

Starts at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday and ends around 4:00 P.M. on Sunday.

Here is another chance for the entire family to "get out!" and go to camp together! Have fun outdoors while learning cool stuff about nature. Families will engage in seasonal activities such as tracking animals in the snow, making maple syrup, building shelters for survival, and probing the various habitats at the farm, all guided by an Audubon naturalist. Vernal pools are small, temporary bodies of water, often found in the spring, which are wonderful habitats for amphibians and a wide variety of invertebrates as well as important components of northeastern ecosystems. You can learn about vernal pools and how to help collect valuable biological information that will be shared with scientists and the local community. The Holderness Conservation Commission has a database of vernal pools in the area and wants to add new locations to it with the help of lay volunteers. The Holderness Conservation Commission, in cooperation with Squam Lakes Natural Science Center and the Squam Lakes Association are sponsoring this program.
