The Honorable Governor John Lynch Proclaims “NASWA Day” – June 29
Governor’s Reception Followed by a Public Celebration
The Makris family, owners of the 4-generation-strong NASWA Resort, will welcome the Honorable Governor John Lynch to the NASWA on Tuesday, June 29 at noon to accept his proclamation of “NASWA Day” in recognition of the resort’s 75th anniversary. Invited guests and media will join in the private reception from 12 noon-2 PM then the event will be open to the public to join in the festivities.
“We’d like all of our friends and guests to join in on this memorable occasion!” said Hope Makris, the second generation of resort’s ownership. Her mother, Fannie Salta opened the hotel which was part of the former Natural Spring Water factory, hence the iconic NASWA name.
High Attitude, a Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band will provide live entertainment at the NAZBar Beach Bar & Grill—which also celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year. The Lake’s best beach bar with 50 docks and sandy shore line has become a major draw for the Resort which also includes the lakeside hotel, cottages and inn. Tropical drink specials and entries for a grand prize of a 4-day, 3-night Weekend Get-Away in a 2-bedroom cottage at The NASWA Resort will be featured. (Entries for the weekend, valued at over $1,000. will be gathered through the weekend with the prize being awarded on July 4.)
To further celebrate, customers who show they are 75 or born in 1975, will receive a free appetizer—all summer long.
“We welcome our special guests and media early in the afternoon, then all of our guests, friends—and their guests—to be a part of our special day,” says Cynthia Makris who created the NAZBar Beach Bar concept and runs the Resort along with her sisters, Victoria, Karen and brother-in-law Jim; their daughters, the 4th generation, also participate in the resort and are “in training” to continue the family tradition in hospitality. “This is truly an honor for us and we are so grateful to the community for its on-going support of the NASWA! We plan to continue this celebration all season long!” she added.
