The Annual Motorcycle Hillclimb returns to Gunstock Mountain Resort
June 18th, 2008 and its ALL NEW.

It’s Bigger – everyone knows that the Hillclimb is New Hampshire’s Biggest Party during Bike Week. Up to 12,000 spectators watch the best Hill Climbers in the Northeast. This year there will be 400 competitors, the biggest field ever!

It’s Better– A great day mountainside at Gunstock with over 7,000 of your closest friends and it only gets better with Live Music, Great Food, Vendors, and so much more.

And this year, It’s All New! After 16 years, it’s more than just a Hillclimb. This will be the first ever Hillclimb Drag Race in New England! Spectators will be right next to the action as each competitor will come out of the hole and be challenged by a 15 foot table top jump before cranking it up the hill. Running side by side, the competition will be intense while the party is huge.

If you haven’t been to a Hillclimb you may think that it is as easy as getting on a suped-up dirt bike, aiming it up the hill, and then hitting the throttle until you reach the top of the peak. These athletes may beg to differ. The new drag format and the table top kicker, these riders will have to push the limits with speed and agility to come out on top.

Mike Farnsworth, president of the Ridge Runners says, “This all new race format is something new to the Hill Climbing world. We will almost double the amount of riders from just two years ago!”, Additionally, “With a head to head ranked format, you know they are not going to want to lose to the guy in the next lane”

Each lane will have individual times so that it is sanctioned by New England Hillclimbing. Racers as young as 8 will be pushing their machines to the limit as they tackle this new format. Never in the history of Hillclimbing has there been an event like this.

It’s not all about the racers. While the competitors come to compete at the largest Hillclimb in the US, spectators come to watch the thrill and spills at the biggest party in NH during Bike Week. The new setup of this year’s bike week allows spectators to get up close and personal with the riders. No, you can’t drag your bike on the mountain, but you will be able to get close enough to see the fear in their eyes as they get 30 feet of air over four jumps! Want to party all day, stay at the bottom and enjoy. Want to be in the action? Drag yourself up to the fence on the course and watch them scream by. Not much compares to watching a 500 pound machine launch 30 feet in the air, land and continue its way up the mountain at speeds exceeding the limits on the road.

Cost to get into the event? 15 bucks…..and remember coolers are allowed under 14 inches and you are reminded not to bring glass. The racing will start at 9 am sharp this year, which will give you a bit more sleep in the morning. Gunstock will have the Panorama lift running(weather permitting) to see the most spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee.

Hillclimb and Bike Week only happen once a year. Don’t miss it. Need more info? Head to www.GUNSTOCK.com or call 1-800-GUNSTOCK
