From castles to moats to jousting knights, you'll find all things medieval at the 92nd Annual Winter carnival in the barony of Newport, NH. You'll find highly competitive contests, feats of skill and bravery and continual feasting from February 6 to 10, 2008. We'll start celebrating Tuesday evening, February 5, with a pre-carnival medieval dinner at the Old Courthouse Restaurant. Wednesday a scavenger hunt, ice skating, games and races, ski joring at the airport, a parade with medieval floats, the Karr Klassic Hockey Tournament, music at the Library Arts Center and a fantastic finale of fireworks. Holderness (January 23, 2008) -- When a pair of Ospreys was spotted on Squam Lake last spring, it was cause for celebration...and concern. The birds were the first of their kind known to take up residence at the lake, but the location of their embryonic nest - atop the cross arms of a New Hampshire Electric Co-op (NHEC) utility pole near the shore of the lake in Holderness - put them dangerously close to live wires. TENNEY’S HORNET LIFT TO OPEN THIS WEEKEND

Plymouth, NH—Ski area operations at Tenney Mountain are moving full steam ahead with the opening of the Hornet Double chair this weekend. After a successful state inspection on Thursday January 24th, Tenney now has the ability to offer guests access to the top of the mountain. 2008 MID-WINTER BALD EAGLE SURVEY YIELDS RECORD N.H. SIGHTINGS

CONCORD, N.H. - Eagle-eyed observers saw a record-high total of 67 bald eagles in New Hampshire during the 2008 National Mid-winter Bald Eagle Survey two-week count period in January, including 59 (30 adults, 29 immatures) observed on Survey Day. The effort was coordinated by New Hampshire Audubon in collaboration with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department's Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program. More...

10E Base Camp is the newest addition to the mountain’s cutting-edge adventure options —Freestyle skiers and riders have plenty to do now at Tenney Mountain with the opening of the new and improved “10E Base Camp”, a terrain park comprised of rails, boxes, and jumps of varying sizes.
