Story Ideas for the Lakes Region of New Hampshire

1. 273 Lakes and Ponds – not to mention our rivers- to play on and in. Canoe, kayak or tube self guided tours, rentals, lessons and guided trips are available throughout the Lakes Region. From tranquil to white water, early bird to full moon, the choices are endless…

2. Historic Walking Tours- Water, as a source of power or transportation, has played a pivotal role in the development of the communities in the Lakes Region. Each community has its own story to tell and many provide walking tours to guide visitors through the community’s history. You will find plenty of antique shops, charming restaurants and unique architecture along the routes.

3. Antique and classic boat and car enthusiasts have plenty to see in the Lakes Region. The New Hampshire Antique and Classic Boat Museum in Wolfeboro honors New Hampshire’s boating heritage and its role in the cultural and social fabric of the Granite State. The museum operates daily from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. Antique and classic boat shows are held in Wolfeboro, Meredith, Alton Bay, .a vintage race boat regatta is held in Wolfeboro each September. Experience the elegance and thrill of an antique speedboat ride reminiscent of the Roaring Twenties departing from the Wolfeboro town docks. Moultonboro’s Lee’s Mills is host the annual Steamship Rally each September; classic cars cruise on in to the Tilton diner on a weekly basis. Meredith is the new host of the Antique and Classic Boat Show held in August. Vintage Motorcycles race the original track at Gunstock each year during Rally and Race week. The New Hampshire Motor Speedway host a variety of vintage car races each year.
