A New Hampshire tradition and timeless wintertime fun! The history of a winter industry and seasonal pastimes in New Hampshire. Our MOST POPULAR annual event!
In 2017, we celebrated with these activities :
Participate in traditional ice block cutting, piking and hoisting ~ watch as it’s transported to our ice house
Celebrate winter with outdoor/indoor activities and history-based demonstrations

Visit and touch farm animals in their winter coats and surroundings
Meet and greet Chinook dogs, the state dog of New Hampshire
The breed was started by Arthur Walden in Wonalancet (a community in Tamworth) in 1917
Get a rare look at antique Model T Ford Snowmobiles ~ originated in neighboring Ossipee, NH
Provided by the Model T Snowmobile Club of America ~ Rides are weather dependent
Listen to live music by Brier Hill Band in the Hearth Room ~ dancing is welcome!
Try your hand at a winter-themed craft or go on a scavenger hunt
Take a self-guided tour of the Museum Center: Ice Harvesting video; Remick Family history;
Walk through the modest apartment Doc Remick shared with his wife Marion Miles Remick;
“Our Medicine Through Time” and “From Fields to Fiber” exhibits
Warm up with Farmhouse Kitchen favorites for purchase at the Sugarhouse
Including cook-your-own hot dogs and s’more kits for enjoying at an outdoor campfire ~ See menu items below

No registration required. *If ice is not safe, visitors will not be allowed on the ice.
No matter the conditions, ice harvesting demonstrations (on ice, if safe for demonstrators) will occur.
