Enjoy a weekend in Canterbury celebrating the sweetest month of the year. Tour sugar houses, artisan shops, and visit the Village for a weekend of historic and modern activities. Stay the night in warm hospitality.

Learn about the Canterbury Shakers’ maple production through an exhibit highlighting this industry. “A Pleasurable Time:” Sugaring at Canterbury Shaker Village, will explore the Shakers’ maple sugaring operation.


Saturday Schedule:

9am – 11am:
Pancake breakfast in the Creamery (No reservation required; suggested donation of $20 per family)

11am: The sap will be running soon. Have you thought about making your own maple syrup? Want to know what equipment is needed?

Join Tim Fleury, UNH Extension Field Specialist, to learn the steps, from tree to table.

This workshop is for first timers and beginner sugar makers having less than 75 taps. All aspects of maple sugaring will be covered, including tree identification and tapping, collecting and boiling sap, finishing, filtering and packing syrup. Equipment and supplies needed, especially sizing and operating small evaporators, homemade and commercial, will also be discussed.

11am – 3pm: Join Tim Meeh & Jill McCullough of North Family Farm to learn about their maple production and watch a maple candy making demonstration!
