This Week’s Program:

Join the SLA for a long exposure light painting/water movement workshop. Anyone is welcome, even if you don’t have a background in photography, or don’t have interest in taking the pictures, you can still come to run, walk, or skate around with your flashlights, and throw water into the air to create fun images. A camera is not required, but bring one if you want to learn or practice long exposure photography. Bring your flashlight, or other light source and draw in the night sky as we take long exposure pictures to capture the movement. If the lake is icy we can even ice skate to draw with light. We will also play with steel wool photography, and freezing water by throwing it into the air, or any other ideas participants may have and want to try. At the end of the program, we can look at all the pictures, and even if you don’t bring a camera, you can receive the photos we take by email to share with your family and friends.

Audience: Participants of any age are welcome to participate. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

What to Bring: Participants should bundle up for the cold because we will be outside as the sun sets and not moving very much. Bring hand warmers, toe warmers, a hot drink, or anything else to keep you warm. Participants should also bring headlamps, flashlights (to make fun long-exposure light pictures with), an insulated thermos or vessel for water (to hold hot water before we throw it into the air for photos), micro spikes, ice skates and snowshoes. SLA can provide snowshoes for up to six people.
