Fall Foliage Hike Up Mt. Israel – Mead Base Parking Area, Sandwich NH

October 1 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Enjoy the cool autumn air and changing leaf colors by joining the Squam Lakes Association and Lakes Region Conservation Corps member Jasper for a ~4 mile round-trip guided hike to the summit of Mt. Israel! This guided hike will take place Saturday, October 1st at 10am and end around 2pm and is a good opportunity to check off an SLA trail from your Squam Ranger checklist! Starting at the Mead Base parking area, we will take the Wentworth Trail up to the summit of Mt. Israel, to an elevation of 2,620 ft. We will have a lunch/snack break while taking in the views at the summit before making our descent back down the Wentworth Trail.

The Squam Lakes Association is dedicated to conserving for the public benefit of the watershed’s natural beauty, peaceful character, and resources. In collaboration with local and state partners, the SLA promotes the protection, careful use, and shared enjoyment of the Squam Lakes Region’s lakes, mountains, forests, open spaces, and wildlife. Hiking Five Finger Point and experiencing the infamous jumping rock is one of many ways to enjoy and take in the natural beauty and peaceful character of Squam Lake.

For more information or to sign up for this free guided hike program, visit the SLA website (squamlakes.org) or contact the SLA directly (603-968-7336). The SLA also offers other guided hikes and Adventure Ecology programming throughout the year. These free programs are open to the public and cover a variety of nature and conservation-related topics. The LRCC AmeriCorps members present the Adventure Ecology programs at the SLA, who perform essential conservation work in support of the Association’s mission.
