Join a Park Ranger for a tour of Franklin Falls Dam and its gatehouse. This tour will give you an insider’s view into the operation of the gatehouse as well as an understanding of the geography, history, and basic structure of the dam. The tour group will be led down the dam crest road while discussing where Franklin Falls Dam sits within the Merrimack River Basin, important historic events that led to construction of the dam, community impact, and physical features of the dam. Once inside the gatehouse, guests will learn about the operation and maintenance of the gates, and how river data is collected and monitored.
