Katie Dobbins
Award winning singer-songwriter and light warrior Katie Dobbins seeks to share honest music that captivates listeners and brings light to the darkness. With a mastery of storytelling and the heart of a poet, this soulful songstress captures elements of life and relationships in ways that lift the spirit and challenge the soul. Her album There Is Light, produced by multi-award-winning producer Sean McLaughlin of 37′ Productions, was awarded Album of the Year at the 2019 New England Music Awards and 2021 Limelight Music Awards. Her single There’s a Light, mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer Jeff Lipton, was featured on Spotify’s New Friday Christian playlist. Her music has been featured on prominent radio stations like NPR and “Boston’s Hottest Country,” with host Carolyn Kruse raving “Sweet but bold, Katie’s voice is reminiscent of one of her heroes, Jewel, but only deeper… A fearless spirit with a gentle touch.” Dobbins just released her self-produced single When Seasons Change, a song that dives into a new perspective of living free, a strong recurring theme throughout Katie’s music. The track was mixed and mastered by Emmy-nominated producer Brian Coombes of Rocking Horse Studio (NH), whom Katie is currently recording multiple singles with to be released over the next several months.
April Cushman
April Cushman is a small town New Hampshire native, from Swanzey. April’s newly released single, “Borrowed Time” has been dubbed her ‘road paver’ song as it has been partnered with Delta Airlines, ranked one of the top 10 independent songs in the US by Lainey Wilson & Tractor Supply and was even considered for pitch to Reba McEntire. She has been writing and releasing songs co-writen with multiple Grammy awarded songwriters, Blue Foley and Trick Savage, as well as with Hit Writer Marty Dodson & Steve Smentek. April currently resides in Swanzey, NH on her farm with her husband and daughter.
Jake Swamp and the Pine
At the end of a long day traversing the White Mountains, when the sun has laid down behind the horizon and the shush of the forest descends, you sit by the campfire and crack open the cold beverage of your choice. Surrounded by friends or family, you realize this is the best possible place you could be right now. This is the feeling that Jake Swamp and the Pine captures with their music. The name Jake Swamp and the Pine provides that context, as it was inspired by the Jake Swamp pine tree – the tallest tree in MA and is honoring Jake Swamp – a prominent environmentalist.
Jake Swamp and the Pine songs range from powerful acoustic anthems to knee-slapping hoedowns to slow and somber waltzes, drawing on diverse influences from the Americana, folk, singer-songwriter, bluegrass, and jam band traditions. With a collection of original songs and covers of artists, there’s always something to stomp, clap, or holler along to. Country 102.5 said “Jake Swamp and the Pine was born to be heard live. You can feel the emotion in his guitar, and his vocals take you on winding journey, up and around bends of inflection. There’s sheer joy that resounds in the making of his craft. You can get all that just from listening to one song.”
A Listening Room Experience
Hermit Woods is excited to bring talented artists from New England and beyond to perform for you. Each performance will provide you with an intimate, up-close, and personal experience with the performing artists. We ask our audience, please refrain from talking during the featured show. Your silence will allow the artists and the audience to immerse themselves in the experience, which is not otherwise possible in larger, noisier environments.
