MKIM is Open all Winter Long & Artifact of the Month – Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum, Warner NH

February 20 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Looking for someplace to escape the cold? It may be freezing outside, but it’s nice and toasty inside MKIM!

We’ll be open Fridays and Saturdays all winter long, where you’ll always be greeted with a fun, educational experience, and a smile or two.

Come join us!

Please Note: If it is snowing during a day we are supposed to be open, please call the museum or check our Facebook to make sure we have not closed due to inclement weather. Thank you.

ARTIFACT OF THE MONTH

Fitting with the snow we’ve been getting, January’s Artifact of the Month is this pair of northeastern Canadian-style snowshoes. This pair was made in the 1930s, consisting of a wooden frame with netting, cord, and thongs made from animal hide. This particular shape of snowshoe is referred to as “bearpaw” because of its wide, almost circular shape that is perfect for hiking through dense woods or rocky areas. View these along with other snowshoes on display in MKIM’s Northeast gallery!
