Robin Patten
I’m a multimedia artist who got started in oils watching Bill Alexander on PBS. I have always had a propensity for art and the creative process. I have very fond memories of watching my father sketch cartoon characters and my uncle, a gun smith, rubbing gunstocks with pumice and oil into a glass like finish.
I enjoy impressionism or interpretive pieces that challenge me to capture a mood or a feeling. Although I can appreciate the traditional I find it too restricting and prefer to let the piece guide the process; if it needs bubbles I need to learn how to blow glass.
This approach has brought me to incorporate ceramics and other mediums into my pieces and opens the door to endless possibilities.
