What to expect on your Rail Bike Adventure:

  • Arrive at the Laconia Railroad Station 20 minutes before your scheduled departure.
  • Sign safety wavier and attended safety meeting.
  • Depart Laconia Station southbound with the group.
  • You’ll stay close together with the other Rail Bikes around you as we make our way out of downtown.
  • We have four (4) road crossings in the first half mile of the trip. At each one, the group will stop and one of your tour guides will stop motorist traffic. We will then make our way over each crossing as a group.
  • Once we safely cross the last road crossing. All of the Rail Bikes in our group will stop. Your tour guides will start sending each Rail Bike one at a time. Allowing a few hundred feet between each individual Bike.
  • You’ll now have two (2) miles at your own pace. Please slow down if you start to approach the group in front of you. No tailgating!
  • Now, you’ll pedal your Rail Bike through the Belmont Woods and along the shore of Lake Winnisquam!
  • At the end of the two (2) miles, you’ll be greeted by your tour guides as you arrive at our southern rest area. Here, you’ll be able to relax on wooden benches along the shore of the Lake. Your tour guides will spin your Rail Bike around, preparing it for the journey back north. Make sure to bring a snack and a bottle of water! We sell snacks and Pepsi products in our gift-shop! – Starbucks Coffee also!
  • Once the last Rail Bike in the group arrives at the southern rest area, we’ll wait about 10 minutes before heading back north to Laconia Station.
  • We’ll do the same process on the way back! You’ll be spread out from other Rail Bikes on our way back from the southern rest area to downtown Laconia. Then we’ll cross the same road crossings again as a group.

The Lakes Region’s most exciting Scenic RailRider Experience! Rail Bike Adventures offers the most breathtaking views of Lake Winnisquam. Enjoy the fresh air of New Hampshire while pedaling one of our custom-made Rail Bikes out of the city and along the lake.

Exploring the rails with Rail Bike Adventures!

Enjoy the beauty and history of New Hampshire’s beautiful Lakes Region as you and your family or friends pedal our custom-made rail bikes along a rail line that dates back to 1848. Your 5-mile round-trip rail bike adventure will begin and end at the historic Laconia Railroad Station in Veterans Square which opened in 1892 and operated until in the late 1960’s.

Our route takes you past the site of the former Laconia Car Company which built rail cars from 1844 to 1928, then over a trestle bridge crossing the Winnipesaukee River and Durkee Brook before reaching the shore of Lake Winnisquam – New Hampshire’s 4th largest lake. The terrain you’ll cover is primarily flat and your excursion is both relaxing & enjoyable for most everyone.
