This Week’s Program:
Join us on a walk through time as we discuss the history of the people who have lived on and enjoyed Squam Lake before us. While we hike the 2-mile perimeter loop of the Chamberlain-Reynolds Memorial Forest, the trail will serve as a timeline starting with the first people who lived in the Squam area, and eventually ending with those who use the lake today. If you’re at all interested in learning about the people who have lived in the area, this program is a great opportunity to do just that!
Audience: Ages 10 and up and anyone willing to walk 2 miles in ice/snow. The hike is pretty flat, but the subject matter is intended for an older audience.
What to Bring: Participants should bring appropriate clothing & extra layers, water, snacks, and snowshoes and/or micro-spikes depending on conditions. The SLA can provide snowshoes for up to six participants. Click here to view a list of SLA recommended gear for winter hiking.
