SLA to Host Speaker Series on Outdoor Volunteering with Nature Groupie

Malin Clyde from UNH Extension’s Nature Groupie will share how their online calendar has been empowering generations of outdoor enthusiasts to volunteer for nature throughout New England and ways that you can get involved.
Do you want to help protect the natural resources in your community? Do you want to take action and volunteer for nature but are unsure where to start? Are you an organization who needs help recruiting volunteers for your nature-based projects?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then this is a presentation not to miss. Nature Groupie (formerly the Stewardship Network: New England) empowers generations of outdoor enthusiasts to volunteer for nature in New England by making it easy for people to find volunteer opportunities through their online calendar of events. Currently, there are over 200 organizations using Nature Groupie to post their outdoor volunteer opportunities. After learning about all of the people taking action around New England and the volunteer opportunities in the Squam Lakes region and beyond you just might find yourself inspired to take action!
Malin Clyde is the Community Volunteer State Specialist for the UNH Cooperative Extension. Malin’s areas of interest include volunteers, land and water stewardship, citizen science, and other efforts that create meaningful connections between communities and the natural world – through partnerships, volunteering, technology, and more. In 2012, Malin started the Stewardship Network: New England, now called Nature Groupie, an initiative that employs collaboration and technology to empower generations of outdoor enthusiasts to volunteer for nature in New Hampshire and beyond.
his program is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome and will support the SLA’s mission “to conserve for public benefit the natural beauty, peaceful character and resources of the watershed.”
