THE SENIE HUNT PROJECT is a blues rock band that was a long time coming. Influenced from the classic blues rock power houses of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix, to the southern rock and soul of The Allman brothers. The band boogies, shakes, rattles, rolls, and cry’s out in a moody tale that pushes the limits of blues.
Fronted by guitarist and singer Senie Hunt, the band has a rotating back line rhythm section of drums and bass. They often feature guest performers on saxophone, keys, and guitar, sparking creative, soulful musical conversations with each performance.
With a mix of originals and classic covers, the bands style and genre bending bring a unique twist to blues and rock n’ roll. The Senie Hunt Project’s first single ‘Lovers on the Run’ is now available on all platforms.
SENIE HUNT is a self-taught, singer-songwriter and percussive guitarist adopted with his twin sister from Sierra Leone. Upon coming to the United States, he brought with him an inherent passion for West African rhythms and percussion. Senie used djembe drumming as a creative outlet to process the traumas of his early childhood during Sierra Leone’s Diamond wars. After being introduced to the guitar by his father in America, Senie started to experiment with blending traditional guitar styles with a percussive groove capturing his West African roots. He learned most of what he knows through watching live footage of his early influencers like Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, and The Allman Brothers, as well as later influences like Michael Hedges, Tommy Emmanuel, and Andy McKee.
His mesmerizing approach and style, combined with his live looping, make for a performance that is eclectic, powerful and artfully unique. Senie composes continuously and has a large body of work for one so young. He received the Innovators award at the GSM Music Awards for his guitar mastery, and was nominated for best male performer of the year in 2021 and Rising star award in 2022 at the New England Music Awards. His spotlight includes opening for artists such as Richard Thompson, The Levin Brothers, Brooks Young, Daby Touré, Robert Randolph and The Wailers.
