Volunteer trail work opportunities at the SLA
Interested in learning firsthand how our hiking trails are maintained for the public? Come volunteer each Sunday from 9am-1pm with the Squam Lakes Association’s Lakes Region Conservation Corps members as they care for the 50+ miles of SLA trails! The day’s work will depend on the specific needs of each trail, but typical maintenance efforts include clearing waterbars, removing blowdowns, cutting back branches that encroach on the trail corridor, and brushing in portions of the trail where the path is unclear. All experience levels welcome and encouraged. This is a fantastic opportunity to get outside while also helping conserve our trails for future hikers.
As always, this work is weather dependent. Should any changes to plan arise, we will provide updates. Participants will meet at the trailhead. The trail for the day will be shared via email or phone with those who sign up for the day. Due to shifting priorities, the trail may not be confirmed until the day before the volunteer day.
