Wacky Pumpkin Painting & Wonderful Water at SLA
October 23 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
*Program leaders will email registrants a day or two before the program with details regarding location, what to bring, and safety protocols.
This Week’s Program:
Join LRCC member Sam to paint and beautify some unsightly gourds. While we give our pumpkins a makeover we’ll talk about local farms and their sustainable practices around the lake. Learn how unsustainable practices can affect the watershed.
A watershed is an area of land that includes a river or lake and all the surrounding streams and rivers that flow into it. When rain falls onto the ground it soaks into the soil and eventually seeps into the nearest stream that feeds into bigger bodies of water. If farms within a watershed use herbicides and pesticides these pollutants will be picked up by flowing waters and make their way into larger water bodies, which is why it is so important for our local farms to have sustainable practices. The SLA works to conserve all parts of the Squam Lakes Watershed, so come learn how other members of the community help keep our waters free of contaminants and enjoy some pumpkin painting too!
Audience: All ages and families welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult.
