SUMMARY:Volunteer: Water Quality Excursion - Squam Lakes Association\, Holderness NH
DESCRIPTION:The Squam Lakes Association’s water-quality data set is the oldest in the northeast\, and we need YOU to help keep it going. Volunteer water quality monitoring is a great way to get involved in the Squam community\, get outside\, and contribute to important research. Join us to collect water column samples and a data profile at two of our monitoring sites\, Piper Cove and Loon Reef\, on Sunday\, July 26th\, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. \nThe purpose of this excursion is to get folks out on the water and show them how the SLA and its volunteers collect water quality data. Participants will get hands-on experience using our equipment on the boat. We will meet at the SLA headquarters and then head out on the lake to complete two water samples. Once we’re finished\, we will dock on Moon or Bowman Island to eat lunch and take in the scenic views. \nThe SLA has been building its water quality data set since 1978. Our volunteer network is crucial to gathering samples and measurements at our deep-water monitoring sites across the watershed. \nVolunteers should bring plenty of water\, lunch\, snacks\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, appropriate clothing\, as we will be out on the water for several hours. Be prepared for your hands and arms to get wet as we take water quality measurements. Come prepared for rain as well. As long as it’s not too windy or thundering\, we will go out. \nMinors must be accompanied by an adult\, and registration is required for this event. \nTo Register:  https://squamlakes.org/event/volunteer-water-quality-excursion-5/ \nSquam Lakes Association\nMeet in the great room and we will head out toward Loon Reef and Piper Cove.\nSquam Lakes Association\n\n\n534 US Route 3\nHolderness\, NH 03245

SUMMARY:Outdoor Summer Adventure at Gunstock Mountain Resort\, Gilford NH
DESCRIPTION:Gunstock Mountain Resort’s award-winning Adventure Park is now open through August 30\, 2026 Thursday-Sunday 10am-4pm. Weekends only Saturday and Sunday through November 1\, 2026. Gunstock’s Adventure Park includes a mountain coaster\, zipline tours\, an aerial treetop challenge course\, and later in the summer\, scenic chairlift rides on the Panorama lift. Gunstock’s 262-Site Campground will operate daily from May 22 through October 18. \n\n\n\nBOOK YOUR STAY\n\n\n\n“People who are only familiar with Gunstock as a destination for winter sports are often surprised to discover we’re a hot spot for summer camping and adventure too\,” said Gunstock President and General Manager Robert Drake. “Locals and visitors to the Lakes Region love the range of activities and events we offer in the summer.” \nThe Gunstock Adventure Park offers its visitors a variety of thrilling fun. Ranking as one of the resort’s most popular adventures\, Gunstock’s mountain coaster carries riders uphill through the forest before letting gravity take charge. The downhill track curves\, banks and loops its way down the mountain\, winding through the trees. Riders can easily control their own speed as each cart is equipped with its own braking system\, allowing guests to choose between a gentle cruise or thrilling race down the mountain at speeds up to 25 miles per hour. Coaster carts can be ridden by a solo driver or with an additional passenger. \nFor guests looking for an adrenaline rush\, Gunstock’s Zipline Tours and Aerial Treetop Adventure course take adventure to new heights. Visitors soar from peak to peak\, and peak to base\, on the 90-minute ZipTour experience. Measuring a total of 1.6 miles\, Gunstock offers one of the longest zipline networks in the continental United States. Tours are guided and guests can control their own speed\, reaching a maximum of 70 miles per hour. \nEight high-ropes courses consisting of 81 challenge features make up Gunstock’s Aerial Treetop Adventure course. Suspended within the trees\, guests will explore a bird’s-eye view of the mountain while tackling features like log ladders\, bridges\, swings\, seesaws\, and ziplines. Each course increases in difficulty and height as visitors advance. There’s even an Explorer Course\, perfect for children ages 6-11. \nScenic Chairlift Rides are another popular choice of adventure\, offering a relaxed\, seated ride to the summit where guests are met with sweeping views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the White Mountains beyond. Scenic Chairlift Rides are anticipated to open Independence Day Weekend\, following upgrades being performed on the Panorama chairlift. \nWhen searching for refreshment between adventures\, guests will find slopeside dining at Barrel Bar & Grille\, located within the Stockade Lodge. Enjoy indoor or outdoor\, full-service dining with a lunch menu that is sure to please. For quick grab-and-go options\, guests can make a pit stop at The Snack Shack located outside the Historic Main Lodge. \nCamping season at Gunstock is scheduled to begin with this summer’s first campers checking in on May 22. The Gunstock Campground places guests in the heart of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region\, close to the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee and nestled at the base of the Belknap Mountains. Wooded and open field sites with fire rings and picnic tables serve as home base for guests who enjoy overnight accommodation in nature with easy access to amenities: a new camp store\, playground\, a heated swimming pool\, dog park\, bath houses\, hiking and biking trails\, a stocked fishing pond\, themed activity weekends and discounted access to Gunstock’s Adventure Park. \nVisit gunstock.com or call 603-293-4341 for more information or to book a visit to Gunstock Mountain Resort this summer. \nGunstock Mountain Resort / 719 Cherry Valley Rd. / Gilford NH

SUMMARY:Castle in the Clouds Open Daily for the Season through October 25\, 2026 - Castle in the Clouds\, Moultonborough NH
DESCRIPTION:Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and daily tours of the restored Lucknow Mansion. This year\, Castle in the Clouds will debut a new exhibition\, From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. The full calendar of programs and events can be found on the Castle in the Clouds website. \nThe 2026 season runs from May 23 to October 25. The property is open to visitors daily. Guests are encouraged to enter the property via the Historic Entrance. The original driveway to the Estate was repaved at the end of 2025\, and provides an amazing introductory experience to any Castle visit. Onsite tickets are available for purchase beginning at 10:00 am daily\, or online tickets can be purchased in advance. The Gift Shop\, Carriage House and Exhibit Gallery open at 10:00 am and trolley service to the mansion begins at 10:15 am. Lunch is served in the Carriage House restaurant daily from 11:30 am until 3:30 pm. In addition to self-guided mansion tours\, a limited number of tickets for guided tours of Lucknow Mansion and the Lucknow Mansion Basement are also available for those seeking an in-depth and behind-the-scenes experience. For more information and to purchase tickets\, visit www.castleintheclouds.org. \n  \nABOUT CASTLE IN THE CLOUDS \nAs the premier historical museum in the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire\, Castle in the Clouds provides each visitor with a look into the past while providing contemporary comforts to make every visit memorable. Originally called Lucknow\, this breathtaking 6\,300-acre property was developed in 1913 by Thomas G. Plant\, a wealthy shoe manufacturer\, to create a luxurious lifestyle with state-of-the-art amenities\, beautiful hand-made furnishings\, and a large staff to run the estate. These days\, visitors come from all around the world to tour the mansion and exhibit gallery\, dine in the Carriage House Restaurant or Café in the Clouds\, hike miles of hiking and walking trails maintained by partner organization the Lakes Region Conservation Trust\, or enjoy one of our many programs and events. Operated by the Castle Preservation Society\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization\, Castle in the Clouds is revered as a cultural and educational resource with the Lucknow Estate both listed on the National Register of Historic Places with national significance and designated by the U.S. Department of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark in 2025. Castle in the Clouds is also available as a fairytale wedding venue and versatile private event rental.
