The anniversary weekend is designed to honor both longtime campers and new families who continue to make Danforth Bay part of their traditions year after year.  \nIn addition to the Labor Day Weekend celebration\, special anniversary activities\, giveaways\, themed events\, and entertainment will be offered throughout the 2026 camping season as part of Danforth Bay’s yearlong 25th anniversary celebration.  \nThe multi-day Labor Day Weekend celebration will pack the resort with family-friendly fun\, kicking off with a festive Golf Cart Parade and rolling through a full lineup of activities for all ages — from a Craft Fair and Food Trucks to Tie-Dye and Ceramics Painting. Guests can test their luck at Candy Bar Bingo\, show off their skills in a Cornhole Tournament\, and cool off at not one but two unforgettable pool parties: a daytime splash with DJ Ram Jam and a magical Glow Pool Party after dark. The festivities will also include an Ice Cream Social featuring familiar faces from Danforth Bay’s 25-year history\, and cap off with a spectacular Dueling Pianos performance that’s sure to be foot-stomping fun. \nGuests can also enjoy nostalgic photo displays\, anniversary merchandise and reunion opportunities with former staff and longtime campers. Additional event details\, schedules\, and entertainment announcements will be released throughout the season.  \n \nThe large swimming pool at Danforth Bay will be the site for not one but two pool parties during the Labor Weekend 25th Anniversary celebration. \n  \nA History of Property Upgrades \nSince being purchased by the Hoyt Family in 2000\, Danforth Bay Camping & RV Resort has undergone significant improvements. The family bought what used to be the old Shawtown campground\, with its half-mile of frontage on Ossipee Lake and more than 300 campsites\, rebuilding it from scratch into a full-service resort offering a variety of activities\, especially for families with children.   \nIn 2005\, they underwent the $3.5 million development of the Bluffs at Danforth Bay. In 2023\, the resort announced extensive upgrades to the resort’s amenities\, including a six-figure investment in a new swimming pool facility. DESCRIPTION:The Squam Lakes Association’s water-quality data set is the oldest in the northeast\, and we need YOU to help keep it going. Volunteer water quality monitoring is a great way to get involved in the Squam community\, get outside\, and contribute to important research. Join us to learn about how to identify & report invasive milfoil\, collect water column samples and create a data profile at two of our monitoring sites\, Sandwich Bay and Loon Reef\, on Sunday\, September 6th\, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm. \nThe purpose of this excursion is to get folks out on the water and show them how the SLA and its volunteers collect water quality data and are managing invasive milfoil. Participants will get hands-on experience using our equipment on the boat. We will meet at the SLA headquarters\, learn about milfoil identification in Squam Lakes and then head out on the lake to complete two water samples. Once we’re finished\, we will dock on Moon or Bowman Island to eat lunch and take in the scenic views. \nThe SLA has been building its water quality data set since 1978. Our volunteer network is crucial to gathering samples and measurements at our deep-water monitoring sites across the watershed. \nIn 2000\, variable milfoil (Myriophyllum heterophyllum) was discovered in the Squam Lakes and River. The Squam Lakes Association has tirelessly worked to keep this submerged invasive aquatic plant controlled. DESCRIPTION:Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and daily tours of the restored Lucknow Mansion. This year\, Castle in the Clouds will debut a new exhibition\, From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. The full calendar of programs and events can be found on the Castle in the Clouds website. \nThe 2026 season runs from May 23 to October 25. The property is open to visitors daily. Guests are encouraged to enter the property via the Historic Entrance. The original driveway to the Estate was repaved at the end of 2025\, and provides an amazing introductory experience to any Castle visit. Onsite tickets are available for purchase beginning at 10:00 am daily\, or online tickets can be purchased in advance. The Gift Shop\, Carriage House and Exhibit Gallery open at 10:00 am and trolley service to the mansion begins at 10:15 am.
