SUMMARY:May Featured Artists & Welcoming Marguerite Mcbride - Artistic Roots\, Plymouth NH
DESCRIPTION:Featured artists for the month of May are Tim Curry\, wood turner; Wendy Ambrusen\,  beader; photographer\, Robert Heiner; carver\, Barbara McAllister; potter\, Joan Glidden; and multi-media artist\, Amy Thurber. Come see their work at Artistic Roots and that of our other artisans.  Artistic Roots is open daily from 10-5. \n \nArtistic Roots welcomes new member\, Marguerite Bride. Marguerite Bride has been painting watercolors for over 30 years now. Before moving to the Lakes District last May\, she lived and worked as a full-time artist and teacher in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. She especially loves painting scenes of bustling towns and historic settings….and if there is snow involved\, all the better.  Over the years\, painting portraits of homes has become her specialty. “After leaving a high-tech career in 1994\, I had no idea a new career in art would be in my future. I just knew I loved creating and wanted to learn as much as I could. A few lessons at the local art school eventually led to taking all the art courses at the community college\, and then years of practice.  That’s how it started. In 1999 I summoned up the courage to show some work to a small cooperative gallery\, was invited to join\, and that began my “public” art career.” \nHer website holds her full portfolio…you will see a wide variety of subjects captured in her paintings\, such as many of her house portraits\, bustling marketplaces\, bucolic farmlands\, quaint villages\, street scenes\, lighthouses\, landscapes and seacoasts\, JAZZ series\, nature inspired paintings and lots and lots of buildings…and that’s just to name a few. \nArtistic Roots / 73 Main Street / Plymouth NH \n603-536-2750    www.artisticroots.com

SUMMARY:Party Animals Exhibit - McLane Center NH Audubon\, Concord NH
DESCRIPTION:Party Animals by Bethany Clarke \nThis exhibit runs at the McLane Center in Concord from March 11-May 2\, 2026. Join us in celebrating this exhibit with the artist on March 13 from 4-6pm at the McLane Center! \nDescription: Handprinted linocuts featuring an array of native New Hampshire plants and animals. The images are all initially sketched by hand and then transferred onto linoleum blocks. They are then carved with a blade. For printing\, the blocks are rolled with ink\, and paper is pressed onto them with a barren and body weight. When pulled up\, the paper includes a reverse image of the block. All prints have natural variances in tone due to human touch\, which is what makes them special. \nArt exhibit viewing access may be restricted during private event rentals. Calling ahead to confirm is recommended. \nBio: Bethany is a public school teacher and linocut printmaker living in Concord. Her prints feature a whimsical array of plants and animals native to New Hampshire. In addition to printing on paper\, she upcycles thrifted clothing with hand-printed patches and scrap quilted appliqué pieces. Her studio is in her basement\, where her two cats like to assist in the creative process. \n \nMcLane Center\n\n84 Silk Farm Road\nConcord\,NH\n\n \nOpen 11am-5pm Wednesday thru Saturday\n\n+ Google Map \n\n\n603-224-9909 \n\n\nView Venue Website \n\n

The works on display include all manner of visual art: paintings\, photography\, and fine art and crafts fashioned from fabric\, glass\, wood\, and other materials. \n Paintings on display have been created in traditional mediums (oil\, acrylic\, watercolor)\, as well as more esoteric mediums such as digital\, alcohol and ink. Felted wool and stained-glass wall hangings festoon the walls alongside the paintings and photography. In addition to the hanging art\, the gamut of fine arts and crafts is fully represented\, from wood carvings\, fabric art\, pottery and ceramics to fine jewelry\, glass art\, woodworking and metal sculptures. \nSquam Lakes Artisans – Fine Arts and Craft Gallery and Gift Shop Cooperative / 23 Main Street(in the Gusto Building) / Center Harbor NH \n603-253-9525 \nfacebook.com/SquamLakesArtisans \nwww.squamlakesartisans.com
