DESCRIPTION:Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and daily tours of the restored Lucknow Mansion. This year\, Castle in the Clouds will debut a new exhibition\, From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. The full calendar of programs and events can be found on the Castle in the Clouds website. \nThe 2026 season runs from May 23 to October 25. The property is open to visitors daily. Guests are encouraged to enter the property via the Historic Entrance. The original driveway to the Estate was repaved at the end of 2025\, and provides an amazing introductory experience to any Castle visit. Onsite tickets are available for purchase beginning at 10:00 am daily\, or online tickets can be purchased in advance. The Gift Shop\, Carriage House and Exhibit Gallery open at 10:00 am and trolley service to the mansion begins at 10:15 am. Lunch is served in the Carriage House restaurant daily from 11:30 am until 3:30 pm. In addition to self-guided mansion tours\, a limited number of tickets for guided tours of Lucknow Mansion and the Lucknow Mansion Basement are also available for those seeking an in-depth and behind-the-scenes experience. DESCRIPTION:  \nFROM SAILS TO ATOMS: THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD \nTEMPORARY EXHIBIT \n\n\nIn celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States\, the Wright Museum will be highlighting one of New England’s most enduring contributions to the nation’s history: the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. \nOfficially established as a federal navy yard in 1800\, but the home of shipbuilding as early as the 1600s\, PNSY has a long and storied history. In it’s early days\, notable ships such as the USS Washington and USS Congress were built there. In 1855\, the shipyard was also responsible for the overhaul of “Old Ironsides\,” the USS Constitution. \nThe first submarine built at the shipyard was the USS L-8 in 1917. During World War II\, the shipyard’s production of submarines was prolific\, tallying more than 70 subs\, including a record 4 launched in a single day. DESCRIPTION:ALWAYS VIGILANT: cIVIL aIR pATROL FROM WWII THROUGH TODAY \nTEMORARY EXHIBIT \n\n\nExhibit runs May 1 – October 31\, 2026. \nCivil Air Patrol is a congressionally chartered\, federally funded\, 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation and serves as the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Founded Dec. 1\, 1941\, to mobilize the nation’s civilian aviation resources for national defense service\, CAP has evolved into a premier public service organization that is a cost-effective force multiplier for Air Force-assigned missions. \nThis special exhibit will highlight the role of CAP in civil defense\, emergency response\, and other missions throughout its history. Featuring historic objects\, videos and interactives\, this exhibit is great for all ages. \nTo dedicate the exhibit\, a special ceremony will take place at 10:00am on May 16\, 2026. Join us for a CAP flyover\, speeches by NH Wing Commander Col. Nic Goupil and Northeast Region Historian Lt. Col. Keith Raymond\, bagpipes by Capt. Ethan Cray\, and more! Nature\nhas always been her inspiration. DESCRIPTION:Renée Blacken to Share Solo Atlantic Rowing Journey at Hulls and Hops Speaker Series \nMoultonborough\, NH—August 31\, 2026—Endurance athlete\, adventurer\, trauma recovery advocate\, and mother Renée Blacken will take the stage at the New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) for its Hulls and Hops Speaker Series on Wednesday\, September 9. \nIn her talk\, Blacken will chronicle her 3\,200-mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean—a 65-day journey undertaken\, alone\, in a 6-meter wooden rowboat. \n“I hope my story will make people wonder\, ‘What’s my ocean?’” Blacken said. “I want to help people realize that we all have the extraordinary in us. What would you do if you dream big?” \nOn January 24\, Blacken set out from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands in a rowboat named Reset. Without a chase boat or resupply\, she rowed for sixty-five days before arriving in Antigua in the Caribbean. At age 43\, the Bethlehem\, NH\, resident became the oldest American woman to complete a solo Atlantic row\, and the first American and first solo female to participate in The Atlantic Dash. \nBlacken first encountered ocean rowing in 2017\, when she read the book Rowing the Atlantic as a newly single mom working at a boarding school. “At that point\, rowing an ocean was someone else’s story\, someone else’s journey\,” she recalled. \nThe idea reawakened in the winter of 2023\, when she started to address the effects of complex trauma she had carried her entire life. \n“I have been through a lot of stuff in my life\, mental and physical health—inexplicable stuff going on in my body\,” she said. “I realized some things I was dealing with were repercussions of complex trauma. I found trauma recovery programs that helped shift my story\, my narrative about who I am\, what I contribute to the world.” \nA documentary about pioneering ocean rower Roz Savage—“a woman at a crossroads who needed to do something wild and big”—finally set her plans in motion. \n“I think we can spend a lot of time waiting until we’re smarter\, stronger\, healthier\,” Blacken said. “I was done waiting for a different version of myself to show up.” \nThe name of the event she entered\, The Atlantic Dash\, comes from Linda Ellis’s poem ‘The Dash’\, which refers to the small mark between the dates on a tombstone. “The question becomes\, what are you going to do with it?” Blacken explained. \nNot a race but an organized crossing built on the power of human potential\, ‘The Dash’ has welcomed rowers with PTSD\, cystic fibrosis\, Parkinson’s Disease\, and other challenges. \n“The idea is that our diagnoses aren’t the sum total of who we are\, and don’t have to be limitations\,” Blacken said. \nBlacken was the only solo rower among five boats that departed together in the Dash’s fourth year\, and once on the water\, she never saw the other crews again until she reached Antigua in the Caribbean. Sleep was elusive\, and swells reached 3.5 meters in the roughest stretches. \nShe said the most frightening moment came when she first had to enter the ocean alone to clean the hull. “I felt super safe on the boat the entire time\,” she said. “The idea of getting off it was pretty terrifying. Day to day\, it was an emotional rollercoaster. You work through it\, then get hit by it again.” \nThe preparation spanned two years and drew on the guidance of veteran UK-based ocean rower Dawn Smith\, who is currently completing her seventh ocean crossing. “I learned from the best\,” Blacken said. “That was huge for my confidence.” \nAlongside the row\, Blacken founded and runs the New Hampshire nonprofit Outdoor Adventuring for Good\, whose mission is to raise awareness of\, increase access to\, and provide funding for trauma recovery programs that integrate mind and body healing in northern New Hampshire. Rowing as Team fOARtysomething\, she raised more than $17\,000\, which she has reinvested into her community\, supporting survivors of domestic abuse & sexual assault and equine therapy programs for active military and veterans. \nShe has also received a commendation from NH Governor Kelly Ayotte and was named a Granite Stater of the Month by US Senator Maggie Hassan. “I’m really grateful to be sharing my story. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. The full calendar of programs and events can be found on the Castle in the Clouds website. \nThe 2026 season runs from May 23 to October 25. The property is open to visitors daily. Guests are encouraged to enter the property via the Historic Entrance. The original driveway to the Estate was repaved at the end of 2025\, and provides an amazing introductory experience to any Castle visit. Onsite tickets are available for purchase beginning at 10:00 am daily\, or online tickets can be purchased in advance. The Gift Shop\, Carriage House and Exhibit Gallery open at 10:00 am and trolley service to the mansion begins at 10:15 am. Lunch is served in the Carriage House restaurant daily from 11:30 am until 3:30 pm. In addition to self-guided mansion tours\, a limited number of tickets for guided tours of Lucknow Mansion and the Lucknow Mansion Basement are also available for those seeking an in-depth and behind-the-scenes experience. DESCRIPTION:  \nFROM SAILS TO ATOMS: THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD \nTEMPORARY EXHIBIT \n\n\nIn celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States\, the Wright Museum will be highlighting one of New England’s most enduring contributions to the nation’s history: the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. \nOfficially established as a federal navy yard in 1800\, but the home of shipbuilding as early as the 1600s\, PNSY has a long and storied history. In it’s early days\, notable ships such as the USS Washington and USS Congress were built there. In 1855\, the shipyard was also responsible for the overhaul of “Old Ironsides\,” the USS Constitution. \nThe first submarine built at the shipyard was the USS L-8 in 1917. During World War II\, the shipyard’s production of submarines was prolific\, tallying more than 70 subs\, including a record 4 launched in a single day. Founded Dec. 1\, 1941\, to mobilize the nation’s civilian aviation resources for national defense service\, CAP has evolved into a premier public service organization that is a cost-effective force multiplier for Air Force-assigned missions. \nThis special exhibit will highlight the role of CAP in civil defense\, emergency response\, and other missions throughout its history. Featuring historic objects\, videos and interactives\, this exhibit is great for all ages. \nTo dedicate the exhibit\, a special ceremony will take place at 10:00am on May 16\, 2026. Join us for a CAP flyover\, speeches by NH Wing Commander Col. Nic Goupil and Northeast Region Historian Lt. Col. Keith Raymond\, bagpipes by Capt. Ethan Cray\, and more! Levesque’s stunning visual style creates a dramatic interplay between fantasy and bold realism inviting viewers to engage with the intricacies of the natural world and the profoundly spiritual nature of landscape. \nLevesque’s work challenges conventional perceptions of reality transforming her art into a dynamic experience that shifts the viewer’s perspective. Each piece commands the viewer to look at nature as an infinite collection of details\, an organic managerie of patterns and shapes that come together to create an awe-inspiring story.
