DESCRIPTION:Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and daily tours of the restored Lucknow Mansion. This year\, Castle in the Clouds will debut a new exhibition\, From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. The full calendar of programs and events can be found on the Castle in the Clouds website. \nThe 2026 season runs from May 23 to October 25. The property is open to visitors daily. Guests are encouraged to enter the property via the Historic Entrance. The original driveway to the Estate was repaved at the end of 2025\, and provides an amazing introductory experience to any Castle visit. Onsite tickets are available for purchase beginning at 10:00 am daily\, or online tickets can be purchased in advance. The Gift Shop\, Carriage House and Exhibit Gallery open at 10:00 am and trolley service to the mansion begins at 10:15 am. Lunch is served in the Carriage House restaurant daily from 11:30 am until 3:30 pm. In addition to self-guided mansion tours\, a limited number of tickets for guided tours of Lucknow Mansion and the Lucknow Mansion Basement are also available for those seeking an in-depth and behind-the-scenes experience. DESCRIPTION:  \nFROM SAILS TO ATOMS: THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD \nTEMPORARY EXHIBIT \n\n\nIn celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States\, the Wright Museum will be highlighting one of New England’s most enduring contributions to the nation’s history: the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. \nOfficially established as a federal navy yard in 1800\, but the home of shipbuilding as early as the 1600s\, PNSY has a long and storied history. In it’s early days\, notable ships such as the USS Washington and USS Congress were built there. In 1855\, the shipyard was also responsible for the overhaul of “Old Ironsides\,” the USS Constitution. \nThe first submarine built at the shipyard was the USS L-8 in 1917. During World War II\, the shipyard’s production of submarines was prolific\, tallying more than 70 subs\, including a record 4 launched in a single day. DESCRIPTION:ALWAYS VIGILANT: cIVIL aIR pATROL FROM WWII THROUGH TODAY \nTEMORARY EXHIBIT \n\n\nExhibit runs May 1 – October 31\, 2026. \nCivil Air Patrol is a congressionally chartered\, federally funded\, 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation and serves as the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Founded Dec. 1\, 1941\, to mobilize the nation’s civilian aviation resources for national defense service\, CAP has evolved into a premier public service organization that is a cost-effective force multiplier for Air Force-assigned missions. \nThis special exhibit will highlight the role of CAP in civil defense\, emergency response\, and other missions throughout its history. Featuring historic objects\, videos and interactives\, this exhibit is great for all ages. \nTo dedicate the exhibit\, a special ceremony will take place at 10:00am on May 16\, 2026. Join us for a CAP flyover\, speeches by NH Wing Commander Col. Nic Goupil and Northeast Region Historian Lt. Col. Keith Raymond\, bagpipes by Capt. Ethan Cray\, and more! The event is free for CAP members and their families. The public is also welcome to attend\, included with the cost of regular museum admission. \nThe Wright Museum would like to thank 1st Lt. DESCRIPTION:The Meredith Fine Craft Gallery invites you in for our September\nexhibit\, Our Wild Neighbors. This collection features hand-felted pieces by juried artist Katie\nPugliese celebrating New Hampshire’s native wildlife.\nFrom local flowers to bugs\, bunnies\, raccoons\, and reptiles that gather around them\, Katie’s\nnewest work highlights the wonder of the wildlife that surrounds us in New Hampshire. Nature\nhas always been her inspiration. Listening to the frogs sing their choruses\, looking for spring\nephemeral flowers\, and watching wildlife go about their day is something too often taken for\ngranted in her eyes. Our Wild Neighbors captures these small moments of life and the whimsy of\nnature’s critters with expertly crafted felt figures.\nEvery piece in the exhibit tells a story with the local flora and fauna. While working on each\nfigure\, Katie learned more about New Hampshire’s native species and the conservation efforts\ndone every day to protect them. She describes the amazing feeling of watching a Monarch\nButterfly flutter by her yard\, remaking “how incredible is it that this endangered species decided\nmy yard was a safe place to be?” The Our Wild Neighbors exhibit is a great way to discover\nthese little wonders of our state’s plants\, pollinators\, and mammals we often overlook.\nThe Meredith Fine Craft Gallery invites you to stop by and explore our collection and find the\nmagic in every piece.
