DESCRIPTION:Events \n\nFun Outdoors with Ice and Snow! \nWinter is full of wonder\, and there’s no better time to explore it than now. The Newfound Lake Region Association invites families\, kids\, and curious explorers of all ages to head outside and discover the magic of ice and snow during our January Nature Challenge. \nChoose one (or more!) of the activities below to try at home or in your neighborhood. Play\, experiment\, observe\, and then let us know what you discovered! \nJanuary Nature Challenge activities: \n\nWave a bubble wand through the air to make bubbles and watch them freeze. (Need bubbles? Stop by Grey Rocks Conservation Center\, Tuesday–Friday\, 9am–4pm.)\nFreeze items in ice (legos\, berries\, dinosaurs) and then “excavate” them.\nMake a snow painting using spray bottles filled with water and food coloring.\nDo some snow baking with cake pans or cookie cutters and decorate your creations with pinecones\, leaves\, and other natural materials.\nStick snow to tree trunks to create a winter design.\nGo on a winter scavenger hunt.\nTake photos of different snowflakes and compare what’s similar and what’s different.\n\nAlong the way\, you can also learn more about the snow water cycle\, how plants survive the winter\, and nine general truths about the environment in winter. \nShare your discoveries with us on Facebook (@NewfoundLake)\, on Instagram (@newfoundlakeassoc)\, or email your photos and stories to mirka@newfoundlake.org.
