SUMMARY:Founder's Library Wine Tasting - Seven Birches Winery\, Lincoln NH
DESCRIPTION:Join the founding winemaker\, Mark LaClair\, for a small-group wine sampling from the cellar library. The “library” is simply a set of wines that are no longer available for public tasting. They are only available for sale. \nMark will take you for a brief walk through the cellar\, then bring you into the Birch Room (private room off the main tasting room) for a sampling of 4 (predetermined) wines from the library rack. This one-on-one experience with Mark is very educational as much as it is entertaining. It is a great opportunity to ask all of those burning wine questions and to sample legacy Seven Birches Wines that the general public does not get to try. \n\nBrief walk through the wine cellar to see the equipment and activity of the day.\nOne-on-one (small group) time with Mark\, the founding winemaker of Seven Birches Winery.\nSample 4 wines from the “Library” – a set of wines off-limits to the general public.\nWine tasting and grape variety education.\nOpportunity to purchase library wines at a 10% discount.\n\n\nDo you enjoy wine tasting at wineries\, but always find yourself looking for something a bit deeper\, a bit more educational\, that includes off-menu wines? This experience is for you. \nThe Seven Birches Winery tasting room\, and the experience offered there is an award-winning\, and highly rated experience\, open to the public. However\, many customers want a little bit more. They are searching for unique experiences that will linger in their memories for a lifetime. \nFounding winemaker\, Mark LaClair\, has spent his entire career creating experiences for people\, whether through the wines he crafted\, events that he produced\, or simply tasting experiences in the Seven Birches Winery tasting room. Now\, Mark has agreed to open his schedule for some direct\, one-on-one time. His wine knowledge\, presentation style\, and charismatic personality is what the tasting room is modeled after. He wanted everyone to experience wine with friends and family\, and to learn a little something along the way. Now you can experience all of this directly with him and in a way that elevates the wine tasting experience as a whole. \nThe fee you are paying for this experience certainly covers the cost of the wine tasting. But\, if you know Mark\, you know that his time is worth gold. Booking one of these experiences gets you both. \n\n$80 per person on Most Wednesday’s & Friday’s at 12Noon\, 2pm & 4pm\nCheck Availability

SUMMARY:Moth Madness - Squam Lakes Association\, Holderness NH
DESCRIPTION:August 14th \nMoth Madness! \n8:30 PM – 10:30 PM \nWhy do moths get a bad rap? While most other pollinators tuck in for the evening\, moths emerge for the night shift and continue to pollinate after dark. Butterflies and moths\, from order Lepidoptera\, are one of the largest insect groups on the planet. There are over 160\,000 recorded species of moths in the world\, with 11\,000 species living in the United States. \nJoin us after hours at the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) Barn on Friday\, August 14th from 8:30 pm – 10:30 pm for a brief introduction on moth identification\, life cycles\, and their importance in our ecosystems. Following the presentation\, we will head outside and use lights to attract moths for easy viewing. These light traps are an excellent way to safely observe the vast diversity of moths and other nighttime insects up close\, so have your camera ready! Participants should also consider bringing extra layers\, a flashlight\, and mild insect repellent. Observing moths may involve standing for extended periods of time – lawn chairs are welcome! Complimentary tea and hot chocolate will be provided. \nFor more information or to sign up for this free Adventure Ecology program\, visit the SLA website (https://squamlakes.org/event/moth-madness/) or contact the SLA directly (603-968-7336). Be sure to check out more Adventure Ecology activities or volunteer events hosted by the Squam Lakes Association! \nThe Squam Lakes Association is dedicated to conserving for the public benefit the watershed’s natural beauty\, peaceful character\, and resources. In collaboration with local and state partners\, the SLA promotes year-round protection\, careful use\, and shared enjoyment of the lakes\, mountains\, forests\, open spaces\, and wildlife of the Squam Lakes Region. \nSquam Lakes Association /  534 US Rte. 3 /  Holderness NH
