SUMMARY:A Favorable Forecast Keeps the Cog Climbing - Mount Washington Cog Railway\, Mt. Washington NH
DESCRIPTION:When the mountain offers an opportunity\, the Mount Washington Cog Railway is ready to climb. With favorable weather predicted this week\, the railway is quickly adjusting its Post-Season Schedule and starting two-hour round-trip excursions to the summit of Mount Washington\, continuing through Sunday\, November 1. \nThe Cog had originally scheduled mid-mountain trips to Waumbek Station during this period. Now\, with the improving forecast\, those same departures will travel to the summit instead. Mid-mountain excursions to Waumbek Station are scheduled to resume next week. \nThe change reflects the railway’s ability to turn a favorable forecast into an opportunity for visitors. By adjusting destinations while keeping departure times unchanged\, the Cog can extend its summit season without requiring guests to rearrange their travel plans. \nDaily departures will be offered at: \n\n9:00 a.m.\n10:15 a.m.\n11:30 a.m.\n12:45 p.m.\n2:00 p.m.\n3:00 p.m.\n\nGuests should note that the New Hampshire State Park visitor center at the summit will remain closed to the public during this extended service period\, although park staff will be on site. \nSummit excursions are scheduled through November 1\, with operations subject to mountain weather conditions. For complete information\, schedule\, tickets and much more\, visit thecog.com \n\nMount Washington Cog Railway\n\n3168 Base Station Road \nMount Washington\, NH 03589 \n603.278.2255

Kearsarge Indian Museum is open for the 2026 season with expanded accessibility improvements and a full slate of programs highlighting Native American history\, art\, and culture. \nHeadlining the season is a new exhibit\, Quills & Beads: Adornment that Adapts\, curated by Sterling Gross. Tracing the evolution of Native American adornment—from traditional porcupine quillwork to the intricate beadwork that emerged following the introduction of European glass beads—the exhibit features rare pieces on public display for the first time. \n“Our new exhibit invites visitors to look closely at the artistry\, but also at the adaptation and resilience these pieces represent\,” said Executive Director Andrew Bullock. “Quillwork and beadwork are living traditions\, and we’re honored to share this collection with our community and with visitors traveling the Museum Trail this season.” \nIn addition to the new exhibit\, the museum has completed several accessibility upgrades ahead of opening day. The Medicine Woods Trail—an outdoor walking path featuring plants traditionally used by Native peoples for food\, medicine\, and craft—is now fully accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Renovations to on-site restrooms and pathways have also been completed to better serve visitors of all abilities. \nMt. Kearsarge Indian Museum is one of nearly two dozen museums on the NH Heritage Museum Trail\, which features members in the Lakes Region\, White Mountains\, Dartmouth-Sunapee Region\, Merrimack Valley\, and Seacoast. SUMMARY:From Sails to Atoms: The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Exhibit - Wright Museum of World War II\, Wolfeboro NH
DESCRIPTION:  \nFROM SAILS TO ATOMS: THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD \nTEMPORARY EXHIBIT \n\n\nIn celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States\, the Wright Museum will be highlighting one of New England’s most enduring contributions to the nation’s history: the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. \nOfficially established as a federal navy yard in 1800\, but the home of shipbuilding as early as the 1600s\, PNSY has a long and storied history. In it’s early days\, notable ships such as the USS Washington and USS Congress were built there. In 1855\, the shipyard was also responsible for the overhaul of “Old Ironsides\,” the USS Constitution. \nThe first submarine built at the shipyard was the USS L-8 in 1917. During World War II\, the shipyard’s production of submarines was prolific\, tallying more than 70 subs\, including a record 4 launched in a single day. In the Cold War era\, the yard was also home to the construction of the revolutionary USS Albacore\, the first teardrop-hull submarine. \nFeaturing vivid images and unique interactive activities\, this special exhibit will explore all of this history\, and more! \nExhibit runs May 1 – October 31\, 2026. \nPhoto:  The USS Shad is launched at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on April 15\, 1942. SUMMARY:Founder's Library Wine Tasting - Seven Birches Winery\, Lincoln NH
DESCRIPTION:Join the founding winemaker\, Mark LaClair\, for a small-group wine sampling from the cellar library. The “library” is simply a set of wines that are no longer available for public tasting. They are only available for sale. \nMark will take you for a brief walk through the cellar\, then bring you into the Birch Room (private room off the main tasting room) for a sampling of 4 (predetermined) wines from the library rack. This one-on-one experience with Mark is very educational as much as it is entertaining. It is a great opportunity to ask all of those burning wine questions and to sample legacy Seven Birches Wines that the general public does not get to try. \n\nBrief walk through the wine cellar to see the equipment and activity of the day.\nOne-on-one (small group) time with Mark\, the founding winemaker of Seven Birches Winery.\nSample 4 wines from the “Library” – a set of wines off-limits to the general public.\nWine tasting and grape variety education.\nOpportunity to purchase library wines at a 10% discount.\n\n\nDo you enjoy wine tasting at wineries\, but always find yourself looking for something a bit deeper\, a bit more educational\, that includes off-menu wines? However\, many customers want a little bit more. They are searching for unique experiences that will linger in their memories for a lifetime. \nFounding winemaker\, Mark LaClair\, has spent his entire career creating experiences for people\, whether through the wines he crafted\, events that he produced\, or simply tasting experiences in the Seven Birches Winery tasting room. Now\, Mark has agreed to open his schedule for some direct\, one-on-one time. His wine knowledge\, presentation style\, and charismatic personality is what the tasting room is modeled after. He wanted everyone to experience wine with friends and family\, and to learn a little something along the way. Now you can experience all of this directly with him and in a way that elevates the wine tasting experience as a whole. \nThe fee you are paying for this experience certainly covers the cost of the wine tasting.
