Tracing the evolution of Native American adornment—from traditional porcupine quillwork to the intricate beadwork that emerged following the introduction of European glass beads—the exhibit features rare pieces on public display for the first time. \n“Our new exhibit invites visitors to look closely at the artistry\, but also at the adaptation and resilience these pieces represent\,” said Executive Director Andrew Bullock. “Quillwork and beadwork are living traditions\, and we’re honored to share this collection with our community and with visitors traveling the Museum Trail this season.” \nIn addition to the new exhibit\, the museum has completed several accessibility upgrades ahead of opening day. The Medicine Woods Trail—an outdoor walking path featuring plants traditionally used by Native peoples for food\, medicine\, and craft—is now fully accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Renovations to on-site restrooms and pathways have also been completed to better serve visitors of all abilities. \nMt. SUMMARY:Castle in the Clouds Open Daily for the Season through October 25\, 2026 - Castle in the Clouds\, Moultonborough NH
DESCRIPTION:Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and daily tours of the restored Lucknow Mansion. This year\, Castle in the Clouds will debut a new exhibition\, From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. The full calendar of programs and events can be found on the Castle in the Clouds website. \nThe 2026 season runs from May 23 to October 25. The property is open to visitors daily. Guests are encouraged to enter the property via the Historic Entrance. The original driveway to the Estate was repaved at the end of 2025\, and provides an amazing introductory experience to any Castle visit. Onsite tickets are available for purchase beginning at 10:00 am daily\, or online tickets can be purchased in advance. The Gift Shop\, Carriage House and Exhibit Gallery open at 10:00 am and trolley service to the mansion begins at 10:15 am. Lunch is served in the Carriage House restaurant daily from 11:30 am until 3:30 pm. In addition to self-guided mansion tours\, a limited number of tickets for guided tours of Lucknow Mansion and the Lucknow Mansion Basement are also available for those seeking an in-depth and behind-the-scenes experience. DESCRIPTION:Gunstock Mountain Resort’s award-winning Adventure Park will be open weekends only Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm in September through November 1\, 2026. Gunstock’s Adventure Park includes a mountain coaster\, zipline tours\, an aerial treetop challenge course\, and later in the summer\, scenic chairlift rides on the Panorama lift. Gunstock’s 263-Site Campground will operate daily from May 22 through October 18. \n“People who are only familiar with Gunstock as a destination for winter sports are often surprised to discover we’re a hot spot for summer camping and adventure too\,” said Gunstock President and General Manager Robert Drake. “Locals and visitors to the Lakes Region love the range of activities and events we offer in the summer.” \nThe Gunstock Adventure Park offers its visitors a variety of thrilling fun. Ranking as one of the resort’s most popular adventures\, Gunstock’s mountain coaster carries riders uphill through the forest before letting gravity take charge. The downhill track curves\, banks and loops its way down the mountain\, winding through the trees. Riders can easily control their own speed as each cart is equipped with its own braking system\, allowing guests to choose between a gentle cruise or thrilling race down the mountain at speeds up to 25 miles per hour. Coaster carts can be ridden by a solo driver or with an additional passenger. \nFor guests looking for an adrenaline rush\, Gunstock’s Zipline Tours and Aerial Treetop Adventure course take adventure to new heights. Visitors soar from peak to peak\, and peak to base\, on the 90-minute ZipTour experience. Measuring a total of 1.6 miles\, Gunstock offers one of the longest zipline networks in the continental United States. Tours are guided and guests can control their own speed\, reaching a maximum of 70 miles per hour. \nEight high-ropes courses consisting of 81 challenge features make up Gunstock’s Aerial Treetop Adventure course. Suspended within the trees\, guests will explore a bird’s-eye view of the mountain while tackling features like log ladders\, bridges\, swings\, seesaws\, and ziplines. Each course increases in difficulty and height as visitors advance. There’s even an Explorer Course\, perfect for children ages 6-11. \nScenic Chairlift Rides are another popular choice of adventure\, offering a relaxed\, seated ride to the summit where guests are met with sweeping views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the White Mountains beyond. Scenic Chairlift Rides are anticipated to open Independence Day Weekend\, following upgrades being performed on the Panorama chairlift. \nWhen searching for refreshment between adventures\, guests will find slopeside dining at Barrel Bar & Grille\, located within the Stockade Lodge. DESCRIPTION:  \nFROM SAILS TO ATOMS: THE PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD \nTEMPORARY EXHIBIT \n\n\nIn celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States\, the Wright Museum will be highlighting one of New England’s most enduring contributions to the nation’s history: the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. \nOfficially established as a federal navy yard in 1800\, but the home of shipbuilding as early as the 1600s\, PNSY has a long and storied history. In it’s early days\, notable ships such as the USS Washington and USS Congress were built there. In 1855\, the shipyard was also responsible for the overhaul of “Old Ironsides\,” the USS Constitution. \nThe first submarine built at the shipyard was the USS L-8 in 1917. During World War II\, the shipyard’s production of submarines was prolific\, tallying more than 70 subs\, including a record 4 launched in a single day. DESCRIPTION:ALWAYS VIGILANT: cIVIL aIR pATROL FROM WWII THROUGH TODAY \nTEMORARY EXHIBIT \n\n\nExhibit runs May 1 – October 31\, 2026. \nCivil Air Patrol is a congressionally chartered\, federally funded\, 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation and serves as the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Founded Dec. 1\, 1941\, to mobilize the nation’s civilian aviation resources for national defense service\, CAP has evolved into a premier public service organization that is a cost-effective force multiplier for Air Force-assigned missions. \nThis special exhibit will highlight the role of CAP in civil defense\, emergency response\, and other missions throughout its history. Featuring historic objects\, videos and interactives\, this exhibit is great for all ages. \nTo dedicate the exhibit\, a special ceremony will take place at 10:00am on May 16\, 2026. Join us for a CAP flyover\, speeches by NH Wing Commander Col. Nic Goupil and Northeast Region Historian Lt. Col. Keith Raymond\, bagpipes by Capt. Ethan Cray\, and more!
