Using the Common Loon as our subject\, you’ll learn basic sketching techniques and how to notice the proportions\, textures\, and features that make each species unique. No art experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to look more closely at the world around you.\nBio: Raisa Kochmaruk is a scientific illustrator on the Communications Team at the Hubbard Brook Research Foundation. She works with researchers and science writers to create images that help convey scientific concepts to lay audiences and draw attention to the grace of plants\, animals\, and landscapes. Raisa studied Communications and Ethics at Cornell University\, where she received mentorship in scientific illustration at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Watch for other wildlife too – you never know what you might see amid Squam’s scenic mountain ranges\, charming islands\, and quiet spots. The route is chosen to maximize wildlife observations; see something different on every memorable trip. \n\nCruise Rates \n\n\n\nCruise Pass Fees (2026)\nMember Rate\nNon-Member Rate\n\n\n\n\nAdult\n$32.00\n$36.00\n\n\nSenior\n$30.00\n$34.00\n\n\nYouth (Age 15 and under)\n$28.00\n$32.00\n\n\nNot recommended for children under 5. Squam Lake Cruises are held on small\, covered pontoon boats holding approximately 20 passengers. They are narrated tours and passengers must remain seated for the duration of the cruise. DESCRIPTION:Return to the Wild Exhibit by Jackie Robidoux: July 8-August 29 at the McLane Center in Concord \nArt exhibit viewing access may be restricted during private event rentals. Calling ahead to confirm is recommended. \nExhibit Description: These images celebrate the wildlife that has found refuge at the Millstone Wildlife Center. Each animal\, cared for with gentle hands\, holds a special place in our hearts. Look into their eyes\, and you’ll glimpse a connection beyond words. There’s a quiet\, bittersweet ache in watching a healed creature return to the wild\, relief in its freedom\, and hope for its future. These animals remind us of the delicate balance of nature and the importance of coexisting with our wild neighbors\, whose homes are often right in our own backyards. \nA portion of this exhibit’s proceeds will support the vital conservation efforts of New Hampshire Audubon as well as the Millstone Wildlife Center\, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing\, rehabilitating\, and releasing injured and orphaned wildlife back into their natural habitats. \nBio: Jackie Robidoux has been a wildlife photographer for over twenty years. She dedicates her time to capturing the beauty and intricacies of wildlife through a camera lens while actively working to protect that wildlife and its habitat. She is also a licensed New Hampshire wildlife rehabilitator and educator. As a rehabber\, she has gained hands-on experience\, providing unique insights into animal behavior and ecology. She runs programs in Southern New Hampshire on animal tracking\, practicing mindfulness in nature\, photography\, trail cameras\, and wildlife conservation. Over the years\, she has participated in studies in New England involving the Canada lynx\, eastern coyote\, bald eagle\, and eastern bluebird. Her passion is educating others on the importance of coexisting with wildlife and connecting people to the natural world. \n

DESCRIPTION:Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and daily tours of the restored Lucknow Mansion. This year\, Castle in the Clouds will debut a new exhibition\, From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. The full calendar of programs and events can be found on the Castle in the Clouds website. \nThe 2026 season runs from May 23 to October 25. The property is open to visitors daily. Guests are encouraged to enter the property via the Historic Entrance. The original driveway to the Estate was repaved at the end of 2025\, and provides an amazing introductory experience to any Castle visit. Onsite tickets are available for purchase beginning at 10:00 am daily\, or online tickets can be purchased in advance. The Gift Shop\, Carriage House and Exhibit Gallery open at 10:00 am and trolley service to the mansion begins at 10:15 am. Lunch is served in the Carriage House restaurant daily from 11:30 am until 3:30 pm. The chairlift runs continually to take you back to the base area at your convenience.\nWe also offer one-way scenic chairlift ride tickets for those who would prefer to hike up and ride down\, or ride up and hike down.
