On the 40th anniversary of the Challenger disaster\, we dedicate this event to the memory of Christa McAuliffe—a teacher\, pioneer\, and beacon of inspiration whose legacy we continue to share with the students we serve. \nQuestions about the tournament?\nContact Melissa Edwards\, Executive Director at medwards@starhop.com or (603) 415-1646 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis tournament is more than just a day on the green—it’s one of the most important fundraising opportunities of the year for the non-profit McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center. For generations of K-12 students\, particularly those in underserved communities\, the Discovery Center and our Christa McAuliffe Planetarium have been filling critical STEM learning gaps. Through interactive field trips\, engaging exhibits\, and awe-inspiring planetarium shows like “The Little Star that Could” and “Asteroid – Mission Extreme”\, students experience science in ways that spark curiosity and fuel ambition. \nBut with New Hampshire public schools facing millions in funding cuts\, science and STEM programs like these are in jeopardy—especially for the kids who need them most. For many\, a field trip to the Discovery Center isn’t just an outing—it’s a life-changing glimpse of what’s possible. It’s where a child discovers that math skills are a superpower\, that space is within reach\, that science is for them. Your support through this charity golf tournament helps the Discovery Center keep these dreams alive. Every dollar raised helps ensure that we can continue to provide our community with the opportunity to explore\, imagine\, and believe in a future filled with possibility.

SUMMARY:Nature and Art Exhibition - Squam Lakes Association\, Holderness NH
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the natural beauty and historical legacy of artistic talent in this community\, SLA is launching its first art exhibition for area artists as part of our grand opening celebration. \nThe theme and title of the exhibition is “Nature and Art.” SLA has an organizing committee for the exhibition that will reach out to artists\, local artisans and community galleries to coordinate efforts with those who wish to join the festivities and highlight the talent and creativity of so many in our community. \nSquam Lakes Association / 534 US Route 3 /  Holderness NH \nOpen Monday-Friday 9am-4pm \n603-968-7336 \nPhoto of Dottie Laughlin \nSummer Afternoon – SLA\nDimensions: 12″ x 16”\nMedium: Oil on canvas\nArtist’s Statement\n\nThe natural beauty of the New England landscape has been such an inspiration to me in both Plein-air and studio painting. The ever-changing colors of the season continue to challenge me\, and it is so rewarding to feel a painting come to life. Moving from Minnesota 25 years ago and finding that special place in the Lakes Region has me feeling fortunate to share my work and connect with other artists in the community. \nI studied art in college\, however it was not until I was raising 3 young boys in a Minnesota winter that I found my way back to painting. The Danforth Museum School and Boston Guild Artist\, William Bartlett have given me the great foundations of painting that make this such a great creative life journey for me.

SUMMARY:Castle in the Clouds Open Daily for the Season through October 25\, 2026 - Castle in the Clouds\, Moultonborough NH
DESCRIPTION:Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and daily tours of the restored Lucknow Mansion. This year\, Castle in the Clouds will debut a new exhibition\, From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. Guests are encouraged to enter the property via the Historic Entrance. The original driveway to the Estate was repaved at the end of 2025\, and provides an amazing introductory experience to any Castle visit. The Gift Shop\, Carriage House and Exhibit Gallery open at 10:00 am and trolley service to the mansion begins at 10:15 am. Originally called Lucknow\, this breathtaking 6\,300-acre property was developed in 1913 by Thomas G. Plant\, a wealthy shoe manufacturer\, to create a luxurious lifestyle with state-of-the-art amenities\, beautiful hand-made furnishings\, and a large staff to run the estate. These days\, visitors come from all around the world to tour the mansion and exhibit gallery\, dine in the Carriage House Restaurant or Café in the Clouds\, hike miles of hiking and walking trails maintained by partner organization the Lakes Region Conservation Trust\, or enjoy one of our many programs and events. Operated by the Castle Preservation Society\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization\, Castle in the Clouds is revered as a cultural and educational resource with the Lucknow Estate both listed on the National Register of Historic Places with national significance and designated by the U.S. Department of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark in 2025.
