SUMMARY:Guided Hike on Cardigan Mountain with Newfound Lake Region Association - Mount Cardigan\, Orange
DESCRIPTION:Join the Newfound Lake Region Association (NLRA) for a guided hike in conserved lands on Cardigan Mountain on October 18 at 8:45am. As the highest peak in the Newfound Watershed\, Cardigan Mountain offers views of the lake and the opportunity to see the larger landscape. Land conservation is one of the best ways to protect the health of Newfound Lake and other water bodies\, as forested areas at higher elevations help soak up rainwater and limit the pollution that makes it into waterways. Led by NLRA volunteers and staff\, participants will use West Ridge Trail to reach the summit\, see views of the watershed and beyond\, and get a new perspective on keeping the watershed healthy. This moderate-to-hard\, >4 mile hike has some steep sections and lots of exposed rock at the top.  Registration is required and space is limited. Register online at NewfoundLake.org/events or call 603-744-8689. \nThe Newfound Lake Region Association’s mission is to protect Newfound Lake and its watershed.  Along with educational programs to foster stewardship of our natural resources\, the NLRA performs water quality monitoring\, stormwater management\, invasive species monitoring and prevention\, and land conservation. DESCRIPTION:The Newfound Lake Region Association (NLRA) invites you to join them for a look at the Hebron Town Forest’s autumn seeds at Newfound Nature Station\, a free program that connects youth and families to the natural world. As we get to the end of the growing season\, many plants are already preparing for next year as they release this year’s seeds. Along the meadow and woodland trails of the Hebron Town Forest\, participants can find seeds that come in a range of sizes\, shapes\, and dispersal strategies\, highlighting the many ways that plants create the next generation. Nature Station is usually held at Grey Rocks Conservation Area\, which is currently closed to the public for construction. For October’s Nature Station\, join NLRA on Tuesday\, October 15th and Saturday\, October 19th 10am-12pm in the Hebron Town Forest.
