Women have had a continuous and growing presence in the U.S. Navy throughout the 20th and into 21st century. Whenever international or domestic events dictated the need\, the Navy expanded its opportunities for women to serve. These artworks demonstrate the wide-ranging and varied occupations women have held as they continue to push the boundaries of prospects available to them. \nA traveling exhibition from the Naval History and Heritage Command

SUMMARY:Marcus Rezak's Gumbo - The Captal Center for the Arts/Bank of NH Stage\, Concord NH
DESCRIPTION:Fri\, Aug 30 @ 8:00 PM\n(Doors open at 7:00 PM) \n\nGet Tickets \nVenue: BNH Stage\n16 S. Main St\, Concord\, NH 03301\n\n\n\n\n  \n\nGumbo Live Phish Experience\nFor Phans who yearn for 90s-style Phish shows and jams\, Gumbo fulfills their nostalgic craving. Fronted by Marcus Rezak\, the project recreates memorable shows from the 1.0 era in their entirety bolstered by a rotating cast of top-tier musicians who share Rezak’s fervor for the pivotal era in the band’s history. The inspiration began at The Rosemont Horizon on 10/3/99 when Rezak saw his first Phish show. That was the catalyst to see hundreds of subsequent shows as the budding guitarist absorbed the true essence of the band’s improvisational style and Trey Anastasio’s masterful guitar playing\, singing\, and songwriting. Rezak travels with the authentic 90s rig featuring a genuine G2 Paul Languedoc guitar\, Mesa Boogie Mark 3 Amplifier\, original spec Languedoc Cabinets\, and 90s pedalboard layout. Coupled with his studies as an alumnus of prestigious music programs at Berklee and DePaul Universities\, Rezak possesses an unmatched insight into presenting the music of Phish by covering pivotal shows by the band to a T transcending the typical tribute band experience. Gumbo strives to recreate this special 1.0 era of Phish concerts\, which only exist in time capsules of cassette tapes\, CDs\, and memories\, giving Phans back that feeling from the 90s.\n\nMarcus Rezak is an eminent force in the world of modern guitar. He is known as a road warrior\, playing over 200 headlining shows throughout the US every year\, and for his prowess as a bandleader\, fronting a bountiful roster of projects ranging from original compositions to his high-octane Grateful Dead tribute Band Shred is Dead and the recently established Gumbo paying homage to Phish’s 1.0 era on an authentic 90s rig on Languedoc Guitars and coveted gear used by Trey Anastasio during the band’s formative years. Marcuz Rezak’s Gumbo is for Phans who yearn for 90s-style 1.0 era Phish shows & jams\, Gumbo fulfills their nostalgic craving.\n\nThe culmination of accolades has found him collaborating with the likes of GRAMMY-award-winning producer Paul Nelson (Johnny Winter\, Eric Clapton\, Buddy Guy); Kris Myers (Umphrey’s McGee)\, Joel Cummins (Umphrey’s McGee)\, Ike Willis (Frank Zappa)\, Arthur Barrow (Frank Zappa); Erik Lawrence (Little Feat); and countless others.\n\n\n\nPlease Note\nOur Policies – Attending a Show

DESCRIPTION:Women in Uniform\n\n\n\n\nExhibit Dates: May 1-October 31\, 2024 \nFrom a Yeoman (F) in WWI to an aviator\, from a sailor to an admiral\, this exhibition features works of art that depict female Navy military personnel. Women have had a continuous and growing presence in the U.S. Navy throughout the 20th and into 21st century. These artworks demonstrate the wide-ranging and varied occupations women have held as they continue to push the boundaries of prospects available to them. \nA traveling exhibition from the Naval History and Heritage Command

SUMMARY:Plaited Turkey Wing Workshop with Larry Antonuk - League of NH Craftsmen - Meredith Fine Craft Gallery\, Meredith NH
DESCRIPTION:The art of broom making reached its pinnacle in New England during the late 1800’s\, driven mainly by the various Shaker museums. Prior to the industrial revolution most towns had several broom making shops. The average farm house held over a dozen brooms of different styles\, suited ideally to an individual task. In this class we’ll create some of the original designs\, using authentic broom corn and other materials. \nWhat to expect: In this class we’ll explore broom making basics by creating a simple turkey wing style whisk broom\, and then embellishing the handle with either broomcorn stalk or basket reed. Students will take home two or more brooms\, as well as the knowledge necessary to continue crafting brooms on their own. \nWho should attend: Anyone interested in learning the basics of traditional broom making. Note that moderate hand strength – along with some hand-eye-foot coordination – will make this a more enjoyable workshop. \nAbout the instructor: \nLarry Antonuk began his brooming journey in 2010 after watching a demonstration at the Enfield\, NH Shaker Museum. He soon became an interpreter at the museum\, and began researching broom designs and building reproductions of both small and tall brooms. Larry is a juried broom maker with the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen\, and sells brooms at five Shaker museums in New England. \nTuition is $75 per student with a $15 materials fee\, paid by cash or check to the instructor on the day of the class. All tools and materials will be provided. \nSpace is limited and pre-registration is required. \nThose who wish to take the class MUST sign up by Monday\, August 26th. \nTo register for this workshop call the League of NH Craftsmen – Meredith Fine Craft Gallery at (603) 279-7920 or visit the Gallery at 279 Daniel Webster Highway in Meredith. \n  \nFor more details\, visit our website at http://meredith.nhcrafts.org/classes/ and our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/nhcraft/ \nThe League of NH Craftsmen Meredith Fine Craft Gallery is located at 279 DW Hwy\, Meredith and is dedicated to the education and support of NH’s fine craft tradition since 1932.

SUMMARY:Women in Uniform Exhibit - The Wright Museum of WW II\, Wolfeboro NH
DESCRIPTION:Women in Uniform\n\n\n\n\nExhibit Dates: May 1-October 31\, 2024 \nFrom a Yeoman (F) in WWI to an aviator\, from a sailor to an admiral\, this exhibition features works of art that depict female Navy military personnel. Women have had a continuous and growing presence in the U.S. Navy throughout the 20th and into 21st century.
