SUMMARY:Trails for Walking & Winter Activities at Canterbury Shaker Village\, Canterbury NH
DESCRIPTION:Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury\, New Hampshire\, features about 4 miles of walking trails with 5 mill ponds winding across its nearly 700-acre historic property.\nKey Trail Information\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPopular Routes: Includes the Mill Pond Trail (0.8 miles) and the Meadow Pond Trail (1.7 miles).\n\n\n\n\nLandscape: The paths meander through peaceful forests\, open fields\, and past historic ponds.\n\n\n\n\nTrail Map: You can view or download the official path layout directly from the Canterbury Shaker Village Trail Map page.\n\n\n\n\nAccess: Exploring the grounds and trails is part of the experience at the Canterbury Shaker Village Official Site.\n\nThe Village grounds and trails are open every day\, year-round from dawn to dusk\, and free to visit. Maps are available at the kiosk under the breezeway adjacent to the parking area. You can view the Village Map and Trail Map online ahead of your visit. \nThe best marked trail takes visitors around Turning Mill Pond\, where they can see the historic Pump House\, beaver dams and human dams\, and enjoy the flora and fauna of this beautiful and serene site. The trail takes about 30 minutes to walk. \n\n \n  \n\nWhile the historic buildings are closed for regular museum tours during the winter months\, the sprawling property transforms into a quiet winter wonderland. The site features nearly 700 acres of protected forests\, open pastures\, and scenic mill ponds under permanent conservation easement\, offering an incredibly peaceful and historic backdrop for winter recreation.\n\n\n\nWhat to Expect on the Trails\n \n\n\n\n\nUngroomed Trails: The village provides 4  miles of nature trails. However\, trails are not mechanically groomed for cross-country skiing. It is entirely a “make your own tracks” or backcountry Nordic skiing experience. If you love uncrowded\, pristine snow\, this is a gem.\n\n \n\n\n\nFree and Open to the Public: The grounds and trails are open year-round from dawn to dusk at no charge. You can easily park and head right out into the fields.\n\n \n\n\n\nTrail Layout: Popular winter loops include the short\, family-friendly Turning Mill Pond Loop (about 1.7 miles) and the Carding Mill Trail. Both options take you past scenic historic stone dams\, frozen ponds\, and snow-laden woods.\n\n \n\n\n\nNo On-Site Rentals: There are no ski or snowshoe rentals available at the property. You must bring your own gear.\n\nCanterbury Shaker Village /  288 Shaker Rd.  /  Canterbury NH

Heather is a pianist\, singer/songwriter\, and performer known for her bell tone vocals and equal parts New Orleans-Oscar-Brubeck jazz piano leanings.\nA Charlie Brown Christmas was originally telecast in December 1965 and was an instant hit with audiences who connected with Peanuts creator Charles M. Schultz’s cast of characters – especially with its rounded-headed hero Charlie Brown\, his woefully scrawny Christmas tree\, and his typewriter-wielding dog Snoopy. Nearly given the ax by CBS studios at the time of its release\, this beloved holiday classic resonates with both children and adults of every generation. Over fifty years on\, it still holds up as one of the most endearing Christmas tales ever told\, and the story of commercialism run rampant echoes clearly to this day.\nThe musical score for A Charlie Brown Christmas\, composed by the late Vince Guaraldi\, is just as poignant and touching as the story and includes the hugely popular hit “Linus and Lucy”. His gentle jazz riffs established musical trademarks that\, to this day\, still prompt smiles of recognition.\nThe Heather Pierson Trio perform the entirety of the Charlie Brown Christmas album as recorded by the Vince Guaraldi Trio\, as well as other Guaraldi compositions.

SUMMARY:Trails for Walking & Winter Activities at Canterbury Shaker Village\, Canterbury NH

You must bring your own gear.\n\nCanterbury Shaker Village /  288 Shaker Rd.  /  Canterbury NH
