DESCRIPTION:Work towards your space science badge with a visit to the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur educators can help your Girl Scout\, Boy Scout\, and Cub Scout troop fulfill the requirements for your astronomy and space science badges in a few different ways: \nGroup Visit\nA visit to the Discovery Center during our regular operating hours can help get you started towards earning your badge! Group general admission rates ($11 per person) are available for groups of 15 or more people. Our Tonight’s Sky planetarium show is a great way to meet more badge requirements\, and planetarium shows can be added to your general admission for $7 per person. \nNight at the Museum\nBring your Scout Troop to the Discovery Center and work together\, both within your troop and with other scouts\, on your STEM and Astronomy related badge requirements. Each Scout Night at the Museum will include STEM and Space/Astronomy themed activities\, two planetarium shows\, time to explore the museum\, and a pizza dinner. A custom McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center badge is presented at the end of the event. \nScout Nights will typically be offered from 4:30pm-9:30pm on alternating Fridays and Saturdays on the 3rd full weekend of the month\, unless otherwise noted. See schedule for specific Scout Night Dates. \nSpots are reserved on a first come\, first served basis. Troops must register at least a week in advance. DESCRIPTION:Canterbury Shaker Village in Canterbury\, New Hampshire\, features about 4 miles of walking trails with 5 mill ponds winding across its nearly 700-acre historic property.\nKey Trail Information\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPopular Routes: Includes the Mill Pond Trail (0.8 miles) and the Meadow Pond Trail (1.7 miles).\n\n\n\n\nLandscape: The paths meander through peaceful forests\, open fields\, and past historic ponds.\n\n\n\n\nTrail Map: You can view or download the official path layout directly from the Canterbury Shaker Village Trail Map page.\n\n\n\n\nAccess: Exploring the grounds and trails is part of the experience at the Canterbury Shaker Village Official Site.\n\nThe Village grounds and trails are open every day\, year-round from dawn to dusk\, and free to visit. Maps are available at the kiosk under the breezeway adjacent to the parking area. You can view the Village Map and Trail Map online ahead of your visit. \nThe best marked trail takes visitors around Turning Mill Pond\, where they can see the historic Pump House\, beaver dams and human dams\, and enjoy the flora and fauna of this beautiful and serene site. The trail takes about 30 minutes to walk. \n\n \n  \n\nWhile the historic buildings are closed for regular museum tours during the winter months\, the sprawling property transforms into a quiet winter wonderland. The site features nearly 700 acres of protected forests\, open pastures\, and scenic mill ponds under permanent conservation easement\, offering an incredibly peaceful and historic backdrop for winter recreation.\n\n\n\nWhat to Expect on the Trails\n \n\n\n\n\nUngroomed Trails: The village provides 4  miles of nature trails. However\, trails are not mechanically groomed for cross-country skiing. It is entirely a “make your own tracks” or backcountry Nordic skiing experience. If you love uncrowded\, pristine snow\, this is a gem.\n\n \n\n\n\nFree and Open to the Public: The grounds and trails are open year-round from dawn to dusk at no charge. You can easily park and head right out into the fields.\n\n \n\n\n\nTrail Layout: Popular winter loops include the short\, family-friendly Turning Mill Pond Loop (about 1.7 miles) and the Carding Mill Trail. Then\, consider taking a “Meet the Winemakers” tour some Saturday afternoon.   This intimate tour of the winery and 2-way conversation with one of the winemakers is a fantastic way to experience Seven Birches Winery. \nThis exclusive experience has a limit of 15 people\, making it ideal for those that have a more-than-average interest in wine and how it is made. Each tour will take a deep dive into the winemaking process\, a look at the equipment that is used\, and will include a wine tasting flight with the winemaker.  The tour is “conversational” so attendees get all their wine questions answered by the pros.  It’s as entertaining as it is educational. \nThis opportunity is perfect for aspiring winemakers\, hobbyists\, or for those that have a more-than-average interest in wine and how it is made.  Expect to learn a great deal about the process and equipment\, along with your tasting and a few laughs along the way. \n$40pp – Tours Include: \n\nFull Flight Wine Tasting with the Winemakers in our Winery\nSouvenir Logo’d Wine Glass of Your Choice\nSpecial Tasting of “Wine in Progress”\n2-Way “Conversation” with the Winemakers\nWinery Production Room Tour\nDeep Dive into Winemaking Process\nReview/Demonstration of Winemaking Equipment\n\nThese tours are available every SATURDAY &  WEDNESDAYS and must be booked in advance.  They do fill up quickly! \nSaturday’s and  Wednesday’s at 4pm.
