DESCRIPTION:July 21\, 2026 • 8:45 am – 1:00 pm\n Rattlesnake Island Preserve\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAugust 11\, 2026 • 8:45 am – 1:00 pm\n Rattlesnake Island Preserve\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLace up your hiking boots for this 2-mile hike along the rocky ridge of Rattlesnake Island Preserve led by LRCT’s AmeriCorps members. \nLRCT Volunteers will transport participants by boat out of Alton to the Rattlesnake Island Preserve dock. We will then embark on the roughly 2-mile round-trip hike\, taking in the island’s beautiful views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the surrounding landscape. The hike is rated moderate to strenuous. \nPlease note that due to our limited dock space\, all participants are required to join our boat ride over to the island. Participants will need to stay with the group for the duration of this excursion due to the location. \nRegistration: Registration is required for this event. Please complete our Google Form by clicking the “Sign Up” button below. \nJuly 21\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSign Up!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAugust 11\, 2026\nSign Up!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe ask that if you sign up\, please plan on attending the full length of the event. This hands-on program is the perfect way to cool off in July. \nJuly 24th 2026: Making Herbed Butter & Homemade Tortillas\nJoin us as we explore the garden\, harvest fresh herbs\, and use them to make a flavorful herb compound butter. Kids will mix\, roll\, and cook homemade tortillas from scratch to enjoy with their butter. This hands-on program helps kids connect garden ingredients with simple cooking techniques while building kitchen confidence. \nJuly 31st 2026: Making Homemade Pasta\nJoin us as we explore the garden\, harvest fresh herbs\, and use them to make a flavorful pesto for topping our homemade pasta! Kids will mix\, roll out\, cut\, and cook ribbon shaped pasta and then enjoy eating their garden-inspired creation. \nAugust 7th 2026: Making French-Style Potato-Salad\nJoin us as we explore the garden\, harvest fresh herbs and potatoes. We’ll make a light vinaigrette dressing for our potatoes and herbs\, and combine them all to make a delicious and nutritious potato salad. \nAugust 14th 2026: Summer Garden Sauté\nJoin us as we explore the garden\, harvest fresh herbs and produce\, then learn how to chop\, season\, and make a simple sauté together. Along the way\, we’ll discover how fresh ingredients and basic cooking skills turn garden harvests into a delicious meal. \nAugust 21st 2026: Making Sourdough Popovers\nJoin us as we explore the garden and harvest fresh herbs. Participants will mix and bake homemade sourdough popovers flavored with the herbs they gathered. Along the way\, they’ll learn simple cooking skills and enjoy a warm\, garden-inspired treat. \nAugust 28th 2026: Making Homemade Pizza\nJoin us as we explore the garden and harvest fresh herbs and vegetables to use for our homemade pizzas. DESCRIPTION:Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Lake Winnipesaukee and daily tours of the restored Lucknow Mansion. This year\, Castle in the Clouds will debut a new exhibition\, From Private Estate to Public Treasure: Lucknow after Thomas and Olive Plant. This exhibit features stories\, photographs\, and memorabilia of the various owners of the Lucknow Estate before the Castle Preservation Society (CPS) was founded in 2006 to manage the estate as a public attraction and museum. \nThis year marks the 20th anniversary of CPS\, which is responsible for the ongoing care and restoration of the Lucknow Mansion and Estate. “This is a pivotal year for the Castle Preservation Society since we are concluding our current strategic plan and continuing to plan for the future of Castle in the Clouds\,” said Charles Clark\, Executive Director of CPS. “Our entire team of staff\, board and volunteers are extremely proud of all we have accomplished in the past 20 years\, including the significant renovations to the Lucknow Estate which are either complete or scheduled for completion this year.” \nIn 2025\, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated the Lucknow Estate as a National Historic Landmark (NHL). An NHL designation is the highest federal recognition of a property’s historical\, architectural or archaeological significance. This designation for the Lucknow Estate is a testament to the efforts of CPS and the Lakes Region Conservation Trust to care for the property. \nThroughout this season\, Castle in the Clouds will offer 200+ public program sessions\, including classes and workshops\, a presentation on the history of Ossipee Park\, a production of Romeo and Juliet from Advice to the Players\, and many other community events. DESCRIPTION:Holsteins and horses were beloved at the historic Remick farmstead\, the home of father-and-son country doctors\, the Drs. Remick. This is most evident in the collections of the younger doctor\, Dr. Edwin “Doc” C. Remick (1903-1993)\, and his personal history with dairy farming and harness racing. DESCRIPTION:Return to the Wild Exhibit by Jackie Robidoux: July 8-August 29 at the McLane Center in Concord \nArt exhibit viewing access may be restricted during private event rentals. Calling ahead to confirm is recommended. \nExhibit Description: These images celebrate the wildlife that has found refuge at the Millstone Wildlife Center. Each animal\, cared for with gentle hands\, holds a special place in our hearts. Look into their eyes\, and you’ll glimpse a connection beyond words. There’s a quiet\, bittersweet ache in watching a healed creature return to the wild\, relief in its freedom\, and hope for its future. These animals remind us of the delicate balance of nature and the importance of coexisting with our wild neighbors\, whose homes are often right in our own backyards. \nA portion of this exhibit’s proceeds will support the vital conservation efforts of New Hampshire Audubon as well as the Millstone Wildlife Center\, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing\, rehabilitating\, and releasing injured and orphaned wildlife back into their natural habitats. \nBio: Jackie Robidoux has been a wildlife photographer for over twenty years. She dedicates her time to capturing the beauty and intricacies of wildlife through a camera lens while actively working to protect that wildlife and its habitat. She is also a licensed New Hampshire wildlife rehabilitator and educator. As a rehabber\, she has gained hands-on experience\, providing unique insights into animal behavior and ecology. She runs programs in Southern New Hampshire on animal tracking\, practicing mindfulness in nature\, photography\, trail cameras\, and wildlife conservation. Over the years\, she has participated in studies in New England involving the Canada lynx\, eastern coyote\, bald eagle\, and eastern bluebird. Her passion is educating others on the importance of coexisting with wildlife and connecting people to the natural world. \n

The cruise route maximizes the likelihood of loon observations and changes weekly.
