SUMMARY:Mother's Day Weekend at Moulton Farm\, Meredith NH
DESCRIPTION:This weekend\, celebrate Mother’s Day at our farm! Despite challenging spring weather\, our annual flower containers and hanging baskets are looking beautiful and full. Discover our diverse selection of annuals\, nursery stock\, fruit trees\, perennials\, and native plants. Our garden center is a visual feast of color after all the grey weather we’ve had. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur garden center also offers a comprehensive selection of garden amendments\, including trusted Coast of Maine products\, cocoa shells\, bagged mulch\, and Pro-Mix. We rely on Pro-Mix as our growing medium for greenhouse tomatoes\, retail packs\, hanging baskets\, and patio planters. Coast of Maine provides excellent soil options\, ideal for enhancing your garden or using independently\, and we particularly recommend their soil for raised beds. \n\n\nRaised beds offer a controlled environment for growing various vegetables\, providing benefits such as improved soil conditions\, drainage\, and easier plant maintenance. We recently received a new shipment of White Vermont Cedar raised beds and planting tables\, so if you want to start a garden\, expand a garden\, or get back to gardening\, come visit us. (See our special raised bed garden packages.) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn addition to flowers\, shrubs\, and herbs\, you’ll also find healthy vegetable plants.  While we’re growing vegetable seedlings for our fields\, we’re also growing them for your garden.  What’s the advantage of using our plants in your garden versus seedlings you might find elsewhere? \n\n\nOne advantage to getting your vegetable seedlings from us is that when we grow the plants here at the farm\, they are subjected to far less stress than plants that need to travel long distances.  Since we’re growing them alongside plants we grow for our fields\, you can be sure we’re carefully monitoring and caring for them\, which also reduces the stress.  Less stress means healthier plants\, and healthier plants mean better harvests. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAnother advantage of getting your vegetable plants from us is the varieties we offer.  As farmers growing food for you\, we select plants for their flavor and ability to thrive in the sometimes challenging conditions of the lakes region.  We also carry varieties of some vegetables\, such as heirloom tomatoes\, that can be difficult to find elsewhere.    \n\n\n\nSpeaking of growing vegetables\, be sure to visit our events page for information on the free vegetable gardening workshops John will be having during the next few weeks.  In response to the many questions we’ve been receiving\, we’ve added a new workshop on raised bed vegetable gardening.  Due to the popularity of our workshops\, please pre-register for these workshops. \n\n\n\nWith quality plants\, products\, and the expertise of our friendly team\, you’ll find everything necessary for a beautiful and successful garden in our garden center. \n\n\nHappy gardening! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMade in our farm kitchen\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGive mom the day off from cooking\, or make your everyday meals easier\, with entrees\, salads\, soups\, and side dishes from our farm kitchen. \n  \nFind our stuffed shells made with our spinach in the coolers in our farm market.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet your herb plants!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur garden center is filled with a wide range of herb plants. Find herbs for cooking\, for teas\, and to use in rock gardens or as ground covers. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGifts for mom!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisit our farm market for gift baskets for mom\, or pick up a gift card and let her choose!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCider Bellies is open!\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Cider Bellies stand at our farm is now open Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 to 2 and on Saturday and Sunday from 8 to 4.\n\n\n\n  \n  \nMoulton Farm / 18 Quarry Rd. SUMMARY:Composting for Your Garden 2nd of a 7 Session Gardening Series - Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm\, Tamworth NH
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 10\, Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm will host Soil Enhancements and Composting for Your Garden\, the second in a seven session gardening series. \nDesigned for participants ages 16 and older\, the series is geared towards beginner gardeners\, but Remick Museum Executive Director Cara Sutherland said more experienced gardeners “may learn a few new techniques along the way.” “The goal of this series is prompted by a growing awareness of how we can create food resiliency in these challenging times\,” she said. \nCiting that the series is inspired by the Victory gardens of World War I and World War II\, Sutherland said a small garden allows people to be “a little bit less dependent” on today’s grocery stores. “You avoid uncertain pricing\, and you can also experience a level of satisfaction that comes with growing your own food\,” she added. \nThe series\, which began in April\, takes place one Saturday each month through October. Although the series follows the growing season and builds upon knowledge from the prior month\, participants can choose to attend individual sessions. \n“The first three classes\, as well as the September and October programs\, are a combination of lecture and demonstration\,” Sutherland explained. “The July and August classes will be hands-on workshops in the commercial kitchen where we will be making canned products to take home.” \nAccording to Jeff Barraclough\, president of the NH Heritage Museum Trail of which Remick Museum is a member\, referred to the gardening series as “incredibly innovative.” “This is an exciting opportunity to get hands-on practical experience you can bring to your own home\,” he said. “It’s also particularly special to honor the legacy of six generations of the Remick family who started growing food on this land over 200 years ago.” \nTo learn more about the Remick Museum’s gardening series or pre-register\, visit remickmuseum.org \nMember institutions on the New Hampshire Heritage Museum Trail are located in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region\, Merrimack Valley\, and Seacoast.
