SUMMARY:MKIM is Open all Winter Long & Artifact of the Month - Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum\, Warner NH
DESCRIPTION:Looking for someplace to escape the cold? It may be freezing outside\, but it’s nice and toasty inside MKIM! \nWe’ll be open Fridays and Saturdays all winter long\, where you’ll always be greeted with a fun\, educational experience\, and a smile or two. \nCome join us! \nPlease Note: If it is snowing during a day we are supposed to be open\, please call the museum or check our Facebook to make sure we have not closed due to inclement weather. Thank you. \nARTIFACT OF THE MONTH \nFitting with the snow we’ve been getting\, January’s Artifact of the Month is this pair of northeastern Canadian-style snowshoes. This pair was made in the 1930s\, consisting of a wooden frame with netting\, cord\, and thongs made from animal hide. This particular shape of snowshoe is referred to as “bearpaw” because of its wide\, almost circular shape that is perfect for hiking through dense woods or rocky areas. View these along with other snowshoes on display in MKIM’s Northeast gallery! \n \nMt. Kearsarge Indian Museum / 18 Highlawn Rd. / Warner NH \n603-456-2600

SUMMARY:Pottery Artist Michael Gibbons - League of NH Craftsmen - Meredith Fine Craft Gallery\, Meredith NH
DESCRIPTION:The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen\, Meredith Fine Craft\nGallery is delighted to present the beauty of autumn into winter captured by juried-in pottery\nartist Michael Gibbons. Michael’s handcrafted stoneware evokes the quiet transition from\nautumn to winter through rich\, natural tones and evocative glaze work.\nEach piece is crafted from brown stoneware clay\, offering a grounded\, organic base that\ncomplements the artist’s signature palette of blue\, slate and rust glazes and colored slips. These\nearthy and atmospheric hues capture the essence of mountain sunsets\, shifting skies\, and the soft\nlandscapes of the changing seasons.\nFrom subtle\, abstract impressions of fall foliage and dusky horizons with beautiful sunsets to the\ncool serenity of snow-dusted peaks and early winter light\, Michael’s pottery tells a story of\nnature’s rhythm and beauty. The work combines both functional and decorative elements with\neach mug\, bowl\, syrup pitcher and wall-plaque a one-of-a-kind reflection of the artist’s\nconnection to the landscape and its ever-changing colors. Other vessels of function and beauty\ndepicting the mountains of New Hampshire include utensil holders\, ramen and rice bowls\, log\nbutter dishes and sponge holders.\nThe Meredith Fine Craft Gallery invites you to come in and see Michael Gibbons’ work and\nexperience the feeling of standing outdoors as the air changes and the light deepens. For more\ninformation\, please call the Gallery at 603-279-7920 or visit our website meredith.nhcrafts.org.\nThe League of NH Craftsmen Gallery is located at 279 DW Hwy. Meredith\, NH. Gallery is open \nMonday-Saturday 10am-5pm and Sundays 12Noon-5pm.\nThe League of NH Craftsmen is a non-profit organization that encourages and promotes the\ncreation\, use and preservation of fine contemporary and traditional hand crafts. The League\nrepresents the signature of excellence in fine craft\, through the work of its juried members and its\nrigorous standards for self-expression\, vision\, and quality craftsmanship. \n

SUMMARY:Wood Art of Duane Martin - League of NH Craftsmen - Meredith Fine Craft Gallery\, Meredith NH
DESCRIPTION:The League of New Hampshire Craftsmen\, Meredith Fine Craft\nGallery is proud to highlight the intricate wood artistry of juried-in artist Duane Martin\, a master\nof Intarsia\, which is a 3D woodworking technique that combines different types\, colors\, and\ngrains of thick woods\, without stain\, to create richly detailed\, dimensional images. Each piece is\nmeticulously hand-cut\, shaped\, and assembled like a wooden mosaic\, bringing the natural beauty\nand textures of the wood to life.\nDuane’s wood art celebrates both craftsmanship and connection to the natural world\, blending\nfine woodworking with artistic expression. One of Duane’s most striking works is a tribute to\none of New Hampshire’s most beloved symbols\, the Old Man of the Mountain. This piece\ncaptures the enduring spirit of the Granite State’s famous rock profile\, carefully rendered through\nlayers of natural wood tones that echo the rugged landscape of Franconia Notch.\nEqually captivating is Duane’s woodpecker\, a creative depiction of the forest’s rhythm and\nenergy. The piece highlights Duane’s keen eye for detail in the woodpecker’s striking coloring\nagainst the tree’s texture\, and the interplay of light and shadow all skillfully crafted from wood\nalone\, without the use of paint or stains.\nThe Meredith Fine Craft Gallery invites you to come see these skillfully crafted pieces where the\ntimeless beauty of New Hampshire’s landscape and wildlife is preserved in wood. For more\ninformation\, please call the Gallery at 603-279-7920 or visit our website meredith.nhcrafts.org.\nThe League of NH Craftsmen Gallery is located at 279 DW Hwy. SUMMARY:Visiting Artists at Gallery - Artistic Roots\, Plymouth NH
DESCRIPTION:Stop by to see their work which will be at the Gallery through February of 2026. We invite you to join us at the reception\, refreshments will be served and all are welcome. \nGallery Open Daily 10-5pm. \nJanet Kent Cocchiaro has lived in Holderness\, New Hampshire for over twenty-five years.  Her inspiration comes from the beautiful natural world around her\, especially her garden\, the fields and woods near her house and White Oak Pond.  She is fascinated with the constantly changing colors\, textures and light both on and near the pond.  Her first medium was printing with foam plates\, but she has been experimenting with acrylics\, water color crayons\, soft pastels\, and collage. \nChloe Springis is a painter living in Plymouth\, NH. Her work comes from a very humble and selfish act of looking inward. Her paintings are a momentary reflection on memories she feels to be important. Her paintings seek to portray a whimsical\, feminine\, dream space\, reminiscent of dead shadows gone by and fleeting moments of sheer gratitude. \nMarguerite Bride is a watercolorist who has been painting for about 30 years. Her images include intricate cityscapes\, landscapes\, house and business portraits\, historic scenes\, and so much more. A true New Englander\, she is particularly fond of painting snowy winter scenes. Her style is realistic but “painterly”. Her paintings include traditional watercolor on paper and also on canvas\, which provides a very different look and feel. Marguarite moved last May from the Berkshires in western MA to Plymouth\, NH. \nAvia Robinson is a high school student based in Southwick\, Massachusetts\, with a passion for both art and the environment. Avia spends much of her year in Rumney\, New Hampshire\, in her family’s seasonal cottage. During her time there\, she’s discovered the wonders of local wildlife\, which are now often depicted in much of her art. She hopes that the themes of conservation she incorporates into her art will enable others to appreciate the importance of protecting local and diverse wildlife. \nArtistic Roots / 73 Main Street / Plymouth NH \n603-536-2750   https://www.artisticroots.com

SUMMARY:Enchanted Owls Exhibit by Sandra Grant McLane Center\, Concord NH
DESCRIPTION:Enchanted Owls by Sandra Grant \nDescription: As I walk through my woodland’s path\, listen for the sounds of the Great Horned Owl’s melody as they communicate back and forth to their mates. It’s like an enchanted forest at different times of the year when all varieties of birds are singing. \nOn a recent walk I looked in front of me and saw a fledgling owl perched on a dead log on the ground. It was a Barred Owl very young\, who may have had its first flight out of the nest and was checking out the ground around him. The next day I found on the path his sibling low in a tree learning how to hunt for food. The mother was seen with big full wings saying\, “Stay back from my nest.” It had to be close by but not to be seen. \nMy home studio is called the “Hooking Nest”\, where I watch the Red-tailed Hawks circling my bird feeders. We watch many owls around our pond hunting for small prey from the treetops. The Blue Herons and Mallards sometimes stop by for a swim. \nPlease enjoy my Owl & Raptor Fiber Art Hooked Birds. \n \nArt exhibit viewing access may be restricted during private event rentals. Calling ahead to confirm is recommended \nBio: I have been a fiber artist for most of my life. My educational background includes a BFA and MFA in fine arts and teaching. I have worked in many different mediums over the years\, starting with drawing and painting. I continued with weaving and had a business selling my work for many years. My love of color\, yarns\, textures and fabrics continued when I stopped weaving and found “rug hooking”. I’ve studied with many well known rug hooking teachers around the country\, learning various different  techniques from each unique artist. All of which has contributed to my fiber birds over the past years. \nI came to realize that rug hooking was a more versatile medium allowing me to create my own colors of dyed wool and yarns. I could add other materials\, like velvets\, metallics\, beads\, novelty fur yarns\, feathers\, etc. I could draw my own subjects and I could make them 3/D if I chose that look. I can work on small or very large pieces. The options are open to create whatever the artist chooses. Also\, the ease of going back and taking out something you don’t like or add more embellishments when finished is so helpful when your creating. \nMost of my recent work is of birds of all kinds. Raptors and all Water birds are high on my list to create.  I live by the water and see so many water birds. I also spent time at VINS\, watching and photographing owls. \nI was chosen as the featured artist in 2022\, at the GMRHG exhibit. I am the Education Chair for GMRHG and teach beginner rug hooking in Vermont Libraries and other Craft centers. My work can be seen on the GMRHG site virtual show. \nI am a juried member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and show in their annual craft shows. In 2019 my piece\, “Bucky the Blue Heron” was chosen as the cover for the show and the featured piece of the show\, along with being printed on their annual tee shirts to sell. I have won best in show awards at NH League exhibits and at the Deerfield\, NH and Tunbridge\, VT\, sheep and wool festivals. My profile and work can be seen on the NH League web site. \nI have been in Celebration’s magazine 3 times and had a write up in Rug Hooking Magazine\, in 2020\, with my Pelican featured on the cover. I currently sell my work through the NH League Craft shops and at Village Art Gallery in Warren\, VT. \nMcLane Center\n\n84 Silk Farm Road\nConcord\, NH 03301 United States\n+ Google Map \n\n\n603-224-9909 \n\n\nView Venue Website

Well here’s your chance with the Meet the Wine & Cider Makers “tour.” You’ll be talking to the person who is on the floor actually making everything you’re trying. That’s right\, no hired stand in or mouthpiece; the person who crafted that beverage from conception to labeling. Come join us on Wednesday or Saturday for a special inside look at our cidery & winery. This event will include six tasting of a variety of different craft beverages made right in the room that you’ll be standing in. Tasting can will include a wine & cider tasting\, all made from the most local fresh ingredients we could find. These items capture a global outpouring of grief\, hope\, and gratitude\, revealing how deeply the Challenger crew touched people of all ages and nations. \nThrough these rare materials and thoughtfully curated displays\, visitors will explore Christa McAuliffe’s journey as a teacher\, a trailblazer\, and a symbol of curiosity and courage\, alongside the stories of her fellow crew members and the mission that inspired a generation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNHPBS Documentary Christa Showing in the Planetarium Theater \nAmerica’s first teacher selected for space\, Christa McAuliffe is the focus of a powerful documentary about the creation of a statue commemorating her remarkable legacy.
