NH’s Lakes Region guide to family fun!
Fairs and festivals are family favorites in the Lakes Region during summer and fall. Here are a few of the favorite event destinations:
Columbus Day Weekend Craft Fair will be held at Gunstock Mountain Resort by Joyce Crafts Shows on October 6th – 8th. Those Arts and Crafts events bring professional artisans, craftsmen and shoppers together. Some of the media at the events include fine art, primitive crafts, country, and contemporary décor, gourmet foods, furniture and lots more!
Join Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum for their Harvest Moon and Naturefest on Saturday, September 23rd. This day of fun and excitement, exhibitions, demonstrations, talks, stories, games, and food! For more information on this event visit, indianmuseum.org
Fall wouldn’t be complete without a traditional town agricultural fair, Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm in Tamworth will be hosting their 14th Annual Harvest Festival on September 22nd. This event is a celebration of agricultural life and accompanying historic crafts, trades, and traditions. This festival is fun for the whole family, featuring horse-drawn wagon rides, seasonal games, observe and interact with farm animals and much more!
The 20th Annual Autumn Craft Festival on the Lake will be held at Mill Falls Marketplace on September 29th and 30th by Castleberry Fairs. Those Arts and Crafts events bring professional artisans, craftsmen and shoppers together. Visit one of the oldest fairs in the area, the Sandwich Fair in Sandwich, NH October 6-8th. The whole weekend is full of entertainment, as well as an Antique Auto Show, Parade, Antique Tractor Pull and much more. This fair is also proud to provide a family-friendly midway with rides and games for all ages and food for any taste. Whether you enjoy the animal competition or exhibits, stage shows or food, there is something for everyone.
On October 20th – 21st teams from all across the country will go the distance in an all-out battle at the Extreme Chuckin Competition at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Teams will use machines such as trebuchets, catapults, and air cannons to launch pumpkin and other extreme items in both distance and target competition. Click here to purchase tickets
On October 27th and 28th, The Cottage Place on Squam Lake will be hosting their semi-annual vintage market for the vintage, antique and art lovers alike. This is a 2-day fest of vintage shopping, demos, samples, food trucks, fun and more.
The Pumpkin Festival is located in the heart of NH, downtown Laconia on October 12th and 13th. This is an attempt to recapture the Guinness World Record of the most lit jack-o’-lanterns in one place. For more information about this event, visit www.nhpumpkinfestival.com
