The Winni Players Present a Holiday Classic
Streaming into your home this holiday season!
The Winni Players Community Theatre has been entertaining audiences with staged radio dramas for over eight years. Now, modern technology is allowing us to bring this old-fashioned technology to your home this holiday season when the Players present a reading of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol adapted by the Players’ own Rick Morten from December 18th through December 31st.

A cast of 23 familiar local voices, led by Ken Chapman as Ebenezer Scrooge and real-life radio star Pat Kelly as the Narrator, will entertain you with the reading of this tale accompanied by illustrations from the original novel.

So grab a cup of your favorite warm beverage, a cozy blanket, and snuggle up with the story of Ebenezer Scrooge as he learns the true meaning of Christmas.

We’ll provide the voices, you provide the imagination!

The streaming will be available from Friday, December 18th at 7pm EST through Thursday, December 31st at midnight EST. The cost is $10 per device, plus a small online fee charged by ShowTix4U, the ticket and viewing platform we are using.

How’d we do it?
In order to provide a safe working space for members of the community theatre to record this production, we worked in small groups and microphone stations were spread out on the stage at distances of greater than six feet. Actors removed their masks only when speaking and we have the benefit of our upgraded HVAC system providing both germicidal UV lights and polarizing media filters. The new technology also allowed some favorite Winni Players who recently moved out-of-state to participate by sending in their own recordings, something that could not have happened for a staged performance.

Despite the strange working conditions, members of the community theatre were thrilled to be creating together. Community theatre is about friendship and love for the craft. We were excited to provide a little bit of that for members of the community this holiday season.

Education Department Sneak Peek!

Our very first look at some VERY early images from STATE OF PLAY: A NEW THEATRE PIECE. This brand new online theatre project is devised (created from scratch) by the ensemble of actors. They started the process by choosing an idea to explore (the concept of loneliness) and are now, through a series of games, writing prompts, movement activities, and other exercises, in the process of creating a totally original theatre piece! It will stream February 11-14, 2021, so it’s still in the development phase… but already the work is intriguing!

Please Consider a Tax-Deductible Donation

With significantly reduced ticket sales in 2020, we rely on our donors to help see us through this difficult time. We were very lucky to receive generous support from both the Federal government and the State of New Hampshire which has been instrumental in getting us through this rough year. But so much is still uncertain as we approach 2021. It is you who has a vested interest in our success. With your help we will continue to be here long after the pandemic to provide award-winning productions for your family to enjoy.

Even the IRS wants you to help. In 2020, taxpayers can deduct additional gifts from their taxes. For those who take a standard deduction, you can claim an additional $300 in charitable giving. If you itemize your deductions, the limits on charitable giving have been removed, allowing for up to 100% of adjusted gross income in gifts.
