A Birding Cruise around Cape Horn, presented by Becky Suomala – The Loon Center, Moultonborough NH

March 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Join us at The Loon Center (183 Lees Mill Road, Moultonborough NH) for a presentation in which Becky Suomala will recount a trip from Santiago, Chile around Cape Horn to Buenos Aires. In addition to seabirding for albatross and other pelagic species in southern waters, Becky will recount landbird stops in Chile, Argentina, and a visit to a penguin colony on the Falkland Islands and will share photos of the seabirds, landbirds, and mammals that she saw. She’ll also show photos that demonstrate the beauty of Cape Horn, the Strait of Magellan, and the Beagle Channel.

The presentation is hosted at The Loon Center. It is sponsored by the Lakes Region Chapter of NH Audubon and is offered in-person only.

We’re available for presentations!

Staff from the Loon Preservation Committee are available to give presentations about New Hampshire’s loons and the work being done in our state to protect them. Presentations can cover topics such as loon biology and behavior, the challenges that loons face while on our lakes, ways to safely share lakes with loons, and the conservation efforts we and our volunteers undertake each year to safeguard our state’s loons. If you are part of a lake association, conservation commission, service organization, garden club, or another organization that would like to host a loon presentation for the coming summer, please fill out our presentation request form.

Please note that presentations are in high demand during the summer, so it is best to book early to ensure we will have a staff member available on your preferred date!
