King Pine Ski Area and the King Pine Race Team are proud to announce the Bob Hoyt Memorial Slalom Race, honoring the longtime General Manager of King Pine and a dedicated champion of youth skiing and local racing. The event will take place Saturday, January 10, 2026, celebrating Bob’s enduring legacy on the mountain he helped shape for more than four decades. 

Bob Hoyt, who passed away in 2020, was a lifelong ski enthusiast.  A former member of the Kennett Ski Team, Bob was known for his fearless spirit, natural ability, and joy for speed, later embracing snowboarding with the same enthusiasm. Over a career spanning more than forty years at King Pine, Bob poured his energy into improving the guest experience, supporting the regional ski community, and creating opportunities for young athletes to learn, compete, and grow. He served on numerous boards throughout New England, helping to strengthen and guide the ski industry with wisdom, enthusiasm, and integrity. 

A devoted supporter of local race teams, Bob took special pride in hosting ski races at King Pine, especially cheering on the King Pine Race Team from the sidelines. In recognition of his leadership and the positive impact he had on generations of skiers, the Hoyt family and the King Pine Race Team have renamed the first open race for local skiers as the Bob Hoyt Memorial Slalom Race. 

“Bob found true happiness in watching young skiers build confidence and fall in love with the sport,” said Stephanie Hoyt. “This race is a way to honor who he was, what he gave to King Pine, and what he believed skiing could do for families and the community.” 

On January 10, local racers will carve their way down King Pine in a celebration of sport, community, and remembrance—keeping Bob Hoyt’s spirit alive with every run.
