Exhibit in Memory of Lynn and Raffle Fundraiser – League of NH Craftsmen – Meredith Fine Craft Gallery, Meredith NH

June 1 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

The League of NH Craftsmen Meredith Fine Craft Gallery will
host an exhibit beginning June 1 st titled IN MEMORY OF LYNN.
Lynn Haust was a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen.
Originally juried in 2016, she created beautiful fused glass pieces. Window
art, table top ‘waves’, jewelry, and her super popular night lights. Lynn’s
work was colorful, joyful and made people happy just to look at it.
Along with creating beautiful glass for sale she also taught her craft to
many students over the years. Here at the Meredith League of NH
Craftsmen Gallery she was an all time favorite.
Last July we lost Lynn after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
Throughout her illness she taught, she created, and she rode her beautiful
horses.
Lynn requested that donations be made in her name to Gerda’s Equine
Rescue in West Townshend Vt. In that effort we are hosting an exhibit that
will feature fine craft created with horses as the theme. This exhibit pays
homage to Lynn’s passion for equine beauty and her enduring love of
horses.
Work submitted by various artists in all mediums will be featured. 10% of
sales from the exhibit will be donated to Gerda’s Equine Rescue, a non
profit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming
horses in need. Haust’s legacy of compassion and advocacy for equine

welfare lives on through this charitable initiative, which aims to make a
meaningful difference in the lives of horses in distress. By supporting this
exhibition we not only honor Lynn Haust’s artistic legacy but also contribute
to a noble cause that embodies her spirit of kindness and empathy.

The League of NH Craftsmen Meredith Fine Craft Gallery
has been the recipient of a generous donation of a hand carved alabaster
bowl carved by Rick Amon. The upcoming Exhibit of In Memory of Lynn
features works created by League juried members with a horse related
theme. Lynn loved horses and was involved with Gerda’s Equine Rescue
Center in Vermont. When Rick heard about the exhibit, with a percentage
of sales are going to Gerda’s in Lynn’s memory, he offered to donate one
of his hand carved alabaster bowls as a raffle to raise additional money for
the organization.
Turning stone began with the Egyptians around 4000 B.C. Finely polished
and oiled vessels have been found in the pyramids. Turning stone became
popular again in Italy in the 1800’s but then went out of fashion.
Rick has been a wood turner for over 15 years and one of his wood
working friends challenged him to ‘turn a piece of stone’- thus began his
love affair with the art form.
Turning stone is much like turning wood. Instead of shearing the wood
grains you scrape and grind the stone. With stone, the lathe speeds are
much slower, around 200 rpms vs. 750 to 900 for wood. Hollowing and
forming the shapes is basically the same.

Rick turns orange and red alabaster which is the rarest in the world and are
found in Utah. The finished piece has a translucent glow that is warm and
inviting.
The League of NH Craftsmen Meredith Fine Craft Gallery will raffle off this
beautiful one of a kind piece during the month of June. Tickets are $1.00
each. All proceeds will go to Gerda’s Equine Rescue Center. A winner will
be chosen on Sunday June 30 th . To buy a ticket please visit the Gallery at
279 DW Hwy. Meredith NH.
