June Artist Reception to Feature Photographer Jeremy Noyes – NH Boat Museum, Wolfeboro NH

June 5 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

On Thursday, June 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) will host an artist reception featuring prints by Lakes Region landscape photographer Jeremy Noyes.

Without a formal arts background and claiming he “can’t even draw a stick figure correctly,” Noyes said he bought his first camera when his oldest daughter was born 15 years ago. “I just wanted to photograph my kids growing up,” he explained. “Over the years, I started taking landscape pictures here and there, but nothing I thought I’d be doing professionally.”

When a friend was looking through his photos and suggested he had an eye for photography, Noyes took those words of encouragement and “ran with them.” Two and a half years ago, he opened a gallery in downtown Meredith, where visitors can see photographs depicting local scenes from the Winnipesaukee, Squam, and Newfoundland Lakes areas.

According to Noyes, his favorite time to take photos is at sunrise and he’s especially inspired by water. “There’s just something about reflections and the sound of the water, whether water lapping over the beach or waves crashing or loons calling,” he said.

Photographs featured at the artist reception will appear on various mediums, including metal prints, canvas prints with wooden float frames, and smaller matted luster paper prints that will be available for purchase. “I’ll pretty much have something from each town that surrounds Winnipesaukee,” added Noyes.

NHBM Executive Director Devon Kurtz expressed excitement about featuring Noyes’ art. “The way Jeremy captures the beauty and nature of the Lakes Region is almost magic,” he said. “His art perfectly fits our aesthetic, so much so that we have a nearly 15-foot print he captured on permanent display.”

NHBM’s artist reception on Thursday, June 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. will include light refreshments and the opportunity to talk with Noyes. The event is free and open to the public. To learn more, visit nhbm.org.
