MONTHLY HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMS – Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, Holderness NH

February 4, 2027 @ 11:30 am - 2:30 pm

Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is offering its monthly Hands-on Learning for
Homeschoolers program for students ages 4 to 6 and 7 to 10. Programs take place on the first Thursday of each
month from November through April, with morning and afternoon sessions available.
The monthly programs give homeschooled students the opportunity to explore the natural world through
hands-on activities, investigations, and outdoor exploration. Each session concludes with an opportunity to meet
one of the Science Center's live animal ambassadors. Take-home activities are also provided to encourage
continued learning beyond the program.
Each month features a different topic, allowing students to explore a variety of natural science concepts
throughout the school year. Topics for ages 4 to 6 include natural communities, New Hampshire landforms,
winter exploration, pollination, and vernal pools. Students ages 7 to 10 will investigate plant power, food webs,
the water cycle, winter survival, decomposition, and interactions within Earth's systems.
Programs are offered from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. or 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Activities take place both indoors and
outdoors, so participants should dress appropriately for outdoor conditions, including insulated boots, hats,
gloves, jackets, and warm layers when needed. An adult must participate with children at no additional cost.
Advance registration is required, and families may register for individual sessions or attend the entire series. The
cost is $12 per member child or $15 per non-member child per session.
