This two-day learning experience equips educators with an understanding of the theoretical models underpinning the latest research in writing instruction. Grounded in the gradual release model and intentional scaffolding, the experience examines writing from its foundational building blocks. This workshop will help teachers design explicit, systematic instruction that supports all learners. Participants will engage in a structured writing simulation to experience the cognitive demand and vulnerability that students encounter. Educators will develop practical tools, including sentence-level scaffolds grounded in oral language, self-regulation strategies, goal-setting practices, and the use of exemplars and modeling to drive student achievement. Whether implementing a core program or building systems where none exist, participants will leave with actionable strategies to create rigorous, supportive, and effective writing instruction.

Lunch will be provided during both days of this program. A guided hike (weather permitting) and entrance to the Castle is also included in the cost.
