The mountains teach.

For my entire life, I’ve called New Hampshire home. My experiences in the White Mountains and my love of mountaineering literature have played a significant role in my education. Both have taught me important lessons about decision-making, leadership, risk-taking-and humility. My professional work in risk management has allowed me to put these lessons to use on an almost daily basis.

Several years ago, I decided to take things a step further by writing about real-life events that demonstrate the value of learning and heeding what the mountains have to teach us. In my writing and my talks with individuals, groups, and organizations, I also share my own encounters with decision-making challenges in hopes of helping others assess and reflect on the experiences they themselves have had at home, at work, or in high places.

Lieutenant Jim Kneeland of NH Fish and Game, who is the Team Leader of their Advanced Search and Rescue Team and who is also a Board Member of the NH Outdoor Council will be there to talk with Ty about search and rescue in general, and the good work of the outdoor council.

There will be a brief Q&A session with Ty and Jim at the end of the event.

Innisfree Bookstore in Meredith will be on site selling copies of Ty’s books.
