Dig into soil science at the Homestead Forest Conservation Area with Dr. Angela Possinger! Participants will learn about differences in soil composition by comparing soil cores collected from multiple areas on the property. Dr. Possinger will walk through what the soil’s color, texture, and organic carbon content tell us about forest health and productivity, as well as potential carbon storage. Participants can expect a short walk and hands-on activities.

Additional Information
Bring/Wear: Bring water and snacks, if needed. Wear hiking boots/appropriate trail footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.
Cost: All LRCT-guided events are free
Children’s Participation: Please check in with us in advance if you are considering bringing young children on a guided excursion to ensure the trip is appropriate for their skill level.
Dog Policy: To ensure the safety and comfort of participants, we are not able to accommodate dogs on our trips.
Cancellation: In the event of inclement weather, participants will be notified of the cancellation via email by 5:00 pm Thursday, July 30.
