Planes are officially taking off and landing on Lake Winnipesaukee! The Alton Bay Ice Runway opened earlier this month, transforming the "Big Lake" into a bustling airport.

Thanks to plow trucks clearing nearly 2 feet of snow and a solid 12-inch ice depth, we are welcoming aircraft back to the bay.

Whether you are a pilot or a spectator, this is a winter sight you don`t want to miss this winter.

Planes are officially taking off and landing on Lake Winnipesaukee! The Alton Bay Ice Runway opened earlier this month, transforming the "Big Lake" into a bustling airport.
